He had a significant medical history and was on medication for diagnosis of ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. Harley’s Psycho-educational evaluation revealed that he was functioning within the average range of ability. Due to his behaviors, a manifestation determination meeting was also conducted at this time. The results indicated that he presented with significant depressive behaviors, which affected his peer and staff relationships. Harley was classified and recommended for a Resource Room placement. Dimino’ responses indicated that Harley displays a Very High Clinical level of emotional disturbance characteristics. His responses suggest Harley has an inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers, inappropriate types of behavior or feelings under normal circumstances, a general pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression, and a tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal or school problems. These characteristics appear to have a moderate impact and a mild severity on Harley’s educational performance. Furthermore, Mr. Dimino views Harley’s behaviors to be at-risk for being deemed socially maladjusted. “Socially maladjusted” refers to a persistent pattern of violating social norms with truancy, substance abuse, a perpetual struggle with authority, is easily frustrated, impulsive, and manipulative.
