Hate List Jennifer Brown Analysis
According to Katy Winter from Daily Mail, 25% of married couples stay together after an affair (Winter). The other 75% usually split up and but some of them manage to stay together until their kids grow up and move out. Most of these couples only stay together for their kids: they don’t want their kids growing up missing a parent. In the novel Hate List by Jennifer Brown the parents of the main character Val split up, because to her father had an affair with his secretary. The author, Jennifer Brown did a good job making a complex situation realistic and she didn’t leave any loose ends behind.
When authors get close to the end of their book they have to start wrapping up all the conflicts in the story. Sometimes authors are in such a hurry to finish the story that they sometimes

This is especially frustrating for the readers because they’re left wanting more. When dealing with the divorce of Val’s parents Jennifer Brown did not leave any loose ends behind. In the story Val’s mother seems to be the one who is most affected by the divorce,”I told her everything. Your mother… She didn’t take it very well, of course. She’s very angry. She’s asked me to leave”(Brown,293). As we can see from this quote Val’s mother is very upset when she discovers her husband has been cheating on her. As stated in the previous paragraph Val’s mother eventually moved on and she got herself a new boyfriend. This is important to the story because if Jennifer Brown did not talk about what had happened to Val’s mom it would have left a loose end. The readers would have wondered how Val’s mom felt and whether or not she was satisfied with her decision to leave her husband. Jennifer Brown truly did an amazing job with her book. One could say that loose ends are like an untied ribbon unless unless wrapped up. So in a sense Jennifer Brown wrapped up her story in a pretty little bow and gave it to her

Writers use many tactics to get across to their readers. In order to get the moral of the story or the overall theme of the book, they might write about the main character reaching an epiphany of some sort that reveals the focus of the story. Writers tend to end their story with a happy ending in which the main character experiences a spiritual reassessment or a moral reconciliation. In Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind, the main character, Scarlett O'Hara, undergoes a spiritual reassessment and moral reconciliation.…

The Taming of the Shrew was a Shakespearean play that was written between 1590 and 1592. Set in both Padua, and Verona, Italy, the play details the “love” story of Petruchio and Katherina. Shakespeare had written the play to be a comedic piece. In 1967 Franco Zeffirelli transformed The Taming of the Shrew into a movie. Maintaining the original story line and setting, Zeffirelli worked the relationship of actors Richard Burton, Petruchio, and Elizabeth Taylor, Katherina into the comedic movie. In 1999 the Shakespearean play was transformed again and directed by Gil Junger. Junger’s movie, 10 Things I Hate About You, is a modernized take on the original play. Changing Katherina to Kat, and Petruchio to Patrick, Junger immersed the movie in the popular culture ideals of the 1990’s. Interpretations of the texts differ from person to person, this opinions will be based upon an individuals beliefs and values. I interpreted both texts to be misogynistic, although The Taming of the Shrew is more so than 10 Things I Hate About…

Having a divorce can help stop an abusive marriage and it’ll make both partners happier than before if stuck in an unpleasant marriage. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean divorces are a good thing. A young child involved in the divorce might feel like they have to choose a side or can even feel like they’re the reason for the divorce. This can really affect the child as he / she grows into their teenage years. Being a teenager is already hard enough, now you have to deal with your parents, two of the most important people in your life, breaking up. Imagine how overwhelming that must be. Moreover, divorces break the bond of trust and relationship between the parents and the kid. Children have been grown thinking that there is only one right family relationship, and that is Mom and Dad being together. “Any other relationship configuration presents a conflict or betrayal of their basic understanding of life” ( Amy Desai ).…
