Change and Innovation
The world and everything in it is evolving, changing every day. People normally do not mind change when it is they doing the changing, but when people are forced to change, then it can become an issue for them. A major health care organization has decided to use electronic medical records instead of the usual paper records. The employees are resistant to change, so I decided to write down ideas to implement so that this transition goes as smoothly as possible.
Employees may be resistant to change for many reasons. The first may be because of that old saying, “If it is not broken, why fix it?” Most employees are comfortable the way things are at work, so any change that may compromise that, will automatically be rejected. Employees may not even like their job, but the uncertainty of what is to come is less appealing than what is already familiar to them. With the rise of health care organizations becoming more innovative and keeping electronic records, this organization must stay on top and find ways to continue evolving to keep up with competition and customer demands. To do this, human resources can provide constant training to the innovative ways of the organization. If the organization evolves, so should the employees. Employees often feel as if their job may be in jeopardy because of the changes being made within the organization. Human resources and management should offer job security to those that may feel uneasy. In doing so, the staff may gain confidence and become idea champions, supporting new ideas and change making it easier for other resisters to have a change of
