This relates to Animal Farm because there was so much being done on the farm that was wrong and no one did anything about it. Like when they knew the seven commandments have changed, they knew that the commandments changed but they didn't do anything about it. Boxer got sent to a slaughter house and Benjamin the donkey new and they tried to stop him but they didn’t and then Squealor came along and told the animals this big lie that the veterinarian bought the wagon from the slaughter house and then they never did anything about it after that. “Everything's approved/people used/even murders excused”, this is also a piece from the excerpt “He Got Game”. This is say that no matter what someone does even the animals from Animal Farm they would get away with it, even murder. Ever since the Seven Commandments had been written, Napoleon used his power to change the commandments and make them the way he wanted them to be. One of them he changed was, “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others” (Orwell, 111). Here, Napoleon is abusing his power because at the beginning of his regime, he followed the commandments, but after becoming accustomed to his power, he claimed it as a right and abused it. Napoleon proclaimed the absolute equality of all the animals, but gave extra power and privileges to himself and the pigs. Napoleon believes that he and the pigs have complete control and have extra privileges, while the working animals exist only to serve the pigs, to provide them with everything they desire,…

I like the song ”Watching You” by Rodney Akins because it perfectly describes how me and my little sister, Lauren’s, relationship is. For the longest time she would watch and mimic me; I hated it. My mom would tell me that I needed to be the bigger person that it wasn’t hurting me, but at the time I thought it was. My entire life goal was to be different and unique, but when she would come behind me and repeat what I did, it makes my entire goal purposeless. What I didn’t realize at the time was that it was teaching me to be aware that other people are watching me at times I never thought they would.…

Many conflicts and controversies came about due to the fact that many were scared by the dangerous effects of gun control, but in the end, the government placed a civic obligation regarding gun control. However, in the 19th century, the Civil War occurred. Hand guns, concealed firearms, firearms, cannons, and loads of bullets filled the country as they prepared for war against the North and the South. There was a greater need for self-protection due to hunting and sporting and the militia and frontier (Cornell). These weapons had an increase of usage because people continuously felt that they needed to protect themselves from danger, and having a weapon with gunpowder seemed like the perfect way to have dealt with this problem. The use of…

Napoleon was seen as the strongest example of Corruption in the book; his use of power was for his own purpose, using the threat of force and coercion to compel the other animals to do his bidding and commands. He uses propaganda to confuse and brainwash some animals in thinking what he is doing is for the greater good of the animals and their home. The use of the Napoleon’s personal dogs was to threaten any animal that opposes his command or protests’. Coercion was also used by Napoleon to fool the unintelligent animals that are easily being misleaded. As Napoleon’s power is unrestricted, he goes further and further with his power abusing it as far as alternating the entire commandment’s all animals lived by. It shows that the attraction for power had already seeped into Napoleons…

Annemarie Powell’s article “Get in the Game: Encouraging Play and Game Creation to Develop New Literacies in the Library” discusses the ways in which play allows children to develop fundamental skills such as new literacies, competencies, and deeper relationships and understandings of the subject material (Powell, 2013, p. 836). Importantly, Powell articulates the necessity of integrating games and playtime with curriculums so that children can better learn and connect with the subject material. In order to demonstrate the importance of pretend play and video games when teaching children, Powell discussed a strategy game that was utilized…

For example, after Napoleon murders many of the animals who are supposedly in league with Snowball, the animals are a bit uneasy because they recall a Commandment that states, "No animal shall kill any another animal" (Orwell 58). Muriel, a literate goat, reads the Commandment after the massacre, and it says, "No animal shall kill any other animal without cause" (151). She thinks that “somehow or other the last two words had slipped out of [her] memory. But [she] saw now that the Commandment had not been violated; for clearly there was good reason for killing the traitors" (165-166). Because Napoleon only educates the wealthy, the rest of the animals are oblivious to what is going on and believe everything that they are told. When Napoleon changes the Commandments, the animals blame their own faulty memories and proceed to believe whatever is written in the commandment because "Napoleon is always right"(111). Napoleon exploits the animals' gullibility when he modifies the Commandments to justify his atrocities and garner even more power. Since the animals only believe what they are told by Napoleon and the media, he is able to maintain his control over the farm. By limiting education to only a select few, Napoleon is able to manipulate the masses and get away with changing things to his…

As the animals begin the Animal Farm society, everyone is equal. As time passes, it is realized that of all the animals, the pigs are the smartest. This is slowly the beginning of Animal Farm moving froma socialistic socoety to a totalitarian society. Snowball and Napolean are two pigs who are constantly arguing over issues; they compete for power. Snowball is a good speaker and can easily persuade people, whereas Napolean is not a very good speaker. Napolean was jealous of Snowball, and he was power hungry. One day, he had his nine enourmouis dogs chase Snowball off the farm. Now Napolean was in complete control, and he made it seem like he was putting a hardship on himself by doing so. Squealer was sent around and said, ³I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napolean has made in taking this extra labor upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure!² (69) It was here that the shift to totalitarianism became rapid.…

“In reality, hope is the worst of all evils, because it prolongs the torments of man” (Friedrich Nietzsche). In the book Animal Farm, there are many different values that the characters reflect as they go about their work. Some show true hard work and try to put others first unlike some who try to take over all of the farm. Slowly and surely the true colors of the animals come out; some nasty and some shine with kindness. A few of the animals begin to be two faced as the lust for power takes over their lives. The rest of the animals kept hope for what was to come and followed blindly, leading to total destruction of the farm that had once been so free. Napoleon the pig was truly the one who slowly led the farm to destruction as Boxer the horse showed true virtue and…
