The health and care professions council sets out the standers of conduct, performance and ethics that the professional body expect from the professionals regulated by the hcpc.

There is currently sixteen professionals regulated under the hcpc regulations. If someone claim that they are registered with these professional body, when they are not or to use a protected title they are not entitled to use, they may be subject to prosecution and a fine of up to £5,000.
