Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. Leonardo was an Italian polymath who was well known as an artist who painted over 280 paintings. He was also known as a natural genius crossing so many disciplines that he epitomized the term “Renaissance Man”. Leonardo belong to a large family with 17 sibling altogether. He was known to have a restless imagination. He shared the high renaissance era with two other great artists, Michelangelo, and Raphael. All of the men lived and worked in the city. I can imagine standing in the middle of a large room full of paintings from Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo. The room would instantly light up. The marvel of raw talent dating back to the sixteenth century, high renaissance era would be mesmerizing. I almost put this era in mind with the movies where the characters are wearing the wigs, the women moving around in the huge dresses that lace up in the back. The men characters speaking with a fluent accent, high in the courts, barking orders to the women, and workers under them. Characters riding horses, or riding in stagecoaches. Hugh cathedrals with beautiful paintings throughout them. Arranged marriages by parents of social class and social status.
Leonardo de Vinci will always be remembered as a natural genius, a man who changed the course of history with his painting, love of music, his sketching of inventions, and his fascination of the human body. Leonardo died May 2, 1519 accompanied by his friend, Francois. Leonardo never did marry nor did he have any
