The issue expressed in the article, “Should Lunch Be Longer”, written by Mackenzie Carro, states that lunch in numerous places needs to be prolonged. In addition, she argues that school schedules are very tight and that extending lunch may make it worse. Even though many students say that lunch should be longer, I definitely disagree. This argument has been in the air for countless years. Nevertheless, nobody has done much to change this.…

Recently there has been revisions to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and schools were required to overhaul their entire menus to provide the students with healthy and nutritious foods including fruits and vegetables. The new school lunch rules are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which has been implemented this fall. (Post Standard) The Hunger Act allows the USDA the opportunity to make reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs. With these revisions come strict guidelines from the federal government that each school district must follow in order to receive funding and reimbursement (National School Lunch Program, 2012, August p. 1). In this essay i will be comparing the positive and negative effects of these recent revisions to the NSLP. I will then discuss whether or not these changes are beneficial to the children receiving the meal and whether NSLP is leaving children hungry or helping children make healthy food choices.…

Should students have open campus lunch periods? Of course because some students don’t like to eat cafeteria food and besides some students like to eat real food. Also school food can really be very disgusting and that’s really the main reason why see students bring their lunch to school. Having open campus lunch also gives you freedom and show that you’re responsible.…
I’m very sorry that I must do this, but you basically brought us to this. The School lunches are Disgusting! It tastes like it came out of the trash can! I mean it even looks like it’s a piece of trash! I doubt you would know because you and the other staff members of the school get fancy meals! This is an outrage and all of the other students of FHMS agree with me! Also, why would you charge us 2.00 dollars for a lunch! That is ridiculous for this piece of trash! That is why all of the students attending FHMS are going to stop purchasing lunches! Face it, you brought this upon yourself! If you weren’t so cheap and bought us good, tasty, and quality lunches we may have kept purchasing your lunches!…
Imagine trying to make yourself lunch everyday using only $2.95 This is what schools are forced to do on a daily basis in order to feed thousands of children. Schools have to be able to create a lunch for children that will satisfy their hunger, using only almost $3 per child. How can we expect our children to be getting the proper and nutritional food with such a small budget? Why aren't we doing more to to make sure the kids in our country are eating healthy meals while away from home? How can we make sure the students will react positive to healthier school lunches after being exposed to such unhealthy food for so long? There are so many questions to be asked and many answers to be given. I think we need to focus more attention on this dilemma because these kids are our future, and we need to make sure our future is as healthy physically and mentally as can be. Luckily, I only needed one proposal before my claim was approved. However, it did take quite a while due to thinking and rethinking the claim over in order to be certain that the proposal I wanted was the one which I really cared to presented. My claim, that students should not have an open campus lunch, was challenging to work with while making a visual. I knew how I wanted to display my message, but many times it wasn't giving off the vibe which I was hoping for. Personally, the proposal for me was the easiest part, I knew exactly the argument I wanted to make, and found it easy to put that into words. On the other hand, the visual portion of the essay was the most stressful. Most of my time was spent online trying to find the perfect pictures. Everyone says that the internet has so much stuff on it, just not the ‘stuff’ I needed to form my visual. My essay was backed by mostly facts and statistics. Through research I found it difficult to come up with statistics already on open lunch, so I was forced to be creative with how I pieced my puzzle together.…

Next, there needs to be better lunches at the cafeteria at HMS. First of all, the lunches need to be bigger so the students can eat more. Before it was stated that students need food to focus in class. The current lunch sizes are for elementary schoolers. Middle schoolers are growing and need more food. Some people believe that the lunch sizes are fine but they are wrong because the kids will still be hungry. Ask the students, make a survey they will be hungry after lunch. They don’t have enough food and the little food we get is not even filling. For example, they have five small chicken wings that cost four dollars. The amount of chicken wings that we get is worth $1. Next, more kids will eat and it will be good for health. The school can…
