Honor Society Pillars

Whether I am volunteering within my community or I am just being polite to a stranger at the supermarket, the pillars of National Honor Society: Character, Service, Scholarship, and Leadership, are meaningful to me. Using these pillars in an everyday setting has motivated me to not only become a better person for myself and my community but to become a better student as well. The pillars of National Honor Society are extremely important parts of my everyday life, attitude, and success as a student because of their vast meaning to me. I believe the first pillar of National Honor Society, character, means that one is polite and respectful to the world around them. I strongly believe that character is what makes you unique from everyone else. By practicing good character, you contribute to the welfare of your community. Furthermore, good character within the
classroom is important. It helps create a safe learning environment where students can feel comfortable with their peers and their teachers. Overall, character is important to me because it establishes healthy relationships within the community and the classroom which is essential for success. The second pillar of National Honor Society is service.
Service, to me, is when one voluntarily commits to the well-being of the people in need within their community for nothing in return. This pillar is special to me because it not only teaches you to serve your community with pride, it teaches you the skills necessary to develop good character. This is one way the pillars of National Honors Society blend together to make you a better person. The pillar of service inspires me to contribute as much as I can to my community to help it propagate. The third pillar of National Honor Society, scholarship, is important to me because it inspires me to do my best in school to develop my academic mind. I believe scholarship is when a student is strongly committed to learning and being successful. By spending extra time studying to get better grades and committing myself to learning, I am putting myself in the best position for college and life thereafter. I contribute all my success as a student thus far to this pillar of National Honor Society because it inspires me every day to do my best work regardless of a
reward. The fourth and final pillar of National Honor Society, leadership, plays a major role in a successful community. To be a good leader, in my opinion, one must sacrifice their personal interests to contribute to the amelioration of his community and its citizens. Whether one is the Mayor of a prominent city or the captain of the golf team, all leaders should prioritize the needs of their constituents over their own to be successful. Moreover, leadership is meaningful to me because it is an essential factor for organizations and communities to be successful. In conclusion, the pillars of National Honor Society contribute meaning to my life. Each pillar has instilled its own meaning within me and I will always carry each one with me as I go through each day. Overall, I am grateful for the ideals the pillars of National Honor Society have given me and will always integrate them into my day.
