The more I worked and learned, the more my efforts began to shift from being tendencies of a teacher’s pet into being a quest for my own knowledge and personal growth. The gentle persuasion of my teachers gave me a hope that I had never before considered, and the tools with which to help it grow, in an environment where there was no limit to where words could take you, and where there was no such thing as a “stupid question.”
Doing well in school has not only given me the drive to pursue it further, but has also redeemed the idea of education in the eyes of my parents. My successes and the good words of my teachers solidified a brighter future than they or I could have imagined. This understanding of the world, coupled with skills I hope to obtain in foreign language, will be of the utmost importance to me in my hopeful career as a language interpreter. With the communication and understanding that the honors program exemplifies, the possibilities of what work I will be apt for after university will be endless, including diplomacy. I hope to engage with other students of varying backgrounds that they may share with me, and so that I may share appreciation for them, and vice versa.
