The air is cold but the trees are on fire. The quiet avenue was gilded with red and gold yet the leaves hadn't yet started to fall. An autumn breeze swept through the air and danced with the scarlet leaves. The streets, evenly lined with trees donned with golden hues, looked like that out of a picture. Everything was beautiful in this moment in time. Everything was perfect.

The golden, crisp leaves crunch underneath my high-heeled boots. As I walk through this masterpiece rain begins to softly fall. I pull my red pea coat together, and quickly hurry to my townhouse. I see my neighbor, Andrew, and quickly

I walk to Andrew's house and he has a look of guilt on his face. I don't have to say anything for him to understand why I'm standing here, completely wet.

"Miranda, I am so sorry," he says softly, as if it were his fault. "Please come inside, it's cold outside and you're all wet." I enter the cozy townhouse and am greeted by his wife. She is a lot shorter than I am, and offers to take my coat to dry it off. She then asks me in a caring, motherly voice, "Would you like a cup of tea or coffee perhaps?" "Tea would be lovely. Thank you," I reply as I sit on the plush sofa.

Their home is filled with photos and memories. I think back to all of the shared times that we had together. The days we spent in each others arms. Now, I don't even want his name on my tongue. It's sour, bitter, and unknown to me.

Andrew's wife, Poppy, brings me a cup of of hot tea. The aroma is bright, and the liquor is a light gold. "Even though we don't talk or see each other as often, I still remember your favorite tea," she says smiling, as she hands me the warm cup.
