People did not agree with the ideas that Abraham Lincoln was putting out, but that did not make him think to do anything illegal, even when he was frustrated. Instead, he stayed determined to make everybody believe his idea and for everyone to change their lifestyle to the way that Abraham Lincoln wanted it to be. He knows what is good for the country and what is bad. He also knows what the country needs and how to improve it. He knew that slavery needed to be ended and even though a few others did not agree, he still changed America for the better. Abraham Lincoln is still talked about today because he was such a great leader, which shows that he really did change the country in a positive way. Although Lincoln did not have any illegal actions, Nelson Mandela had many. He first turned to terrorism and even though the government banned it, he proceeded and rebelled against the government. Because of his illegal actions, he was sent to jail. Even though Nelson Mandela knew what he did was wrong, he did it anyways to get his point across. He thought people needed to know what was happening with the world, which they did, and he told them. They both accomplished their goal of freeing African peoples and becoming presidents of their countries. They are different because Abraham Lincoln did not engage in illegal actions or violence and Nelson Mandela engaged in illegal actions and violence towards the government. In addition to the men being similar, they both misled the government in order to free African peoples. Lincoln and Mandela are amazing men and leaders and their accomplishments will forever be talked
