i. Liberalism
Liberalism, also often called idealism, is a state level thory which argues that “there is lot of cooperation in the world, not jst rivalry.” (Newmann, 2009) In the real life, the most prominent example of implementing liberalism is in Woodrow Wilson’s presidency. What needs to be mentioned here is that the idea of “Balance of Power” proposed by realists is not suitable in the Utopia circumstance. According to Mearsheimer, the founder of offensive realism, “a great power can, and should, try ‘to gain as much power as possible and , if the circumstances are right, to pursue hegemony.” However, his assumption that leads to this conclusion is that “we are forced to live in an enviroonment of significant insecurity and the ultimate goal of each gret power is survival”. Since Utopias all avoid this sense of insecurity and survival is not a problem in this circumstance, it is firm to believe complex interdepence will exist rather than balancing of power.
