Jobs went after his ideas and creative beliefs …show more content…
The only situation that I believe Jobs was in some way a peacemaker was when there was a scandal revolving around his bookkeeping errors. The Political frame revolves around power. Jobs was power hungry. He was not happy unless he was the head of the project and his ideas were at play. The film showed Jobs in an office meeting “discussing” different ideas. The “discussion” was not really a discussion at all. It seemed to be more of a session for Jobs to strike down others’ ideas, good and bad, so he could promote his own righteous ones. Conflict is also commonly found under those leaders with a Political frame of mind. Apple’s conflict could get ugly. But, interestingly enough, a lot of times situations were diffused because of Jobs’ magic. All to say, if a conflict did arise, Jobs acted dictator-like in handling it and, ultimately, would get his way, whether it meant losing an employee or adding a bad adjective to his name. One striking detail that showed his Political frame was when he refused to contribute part of Apple’s earnings towards philanthropic endeavors. I am not sure of Jobs’ reasoning behind the decision, but I do know that Apple, a corporation comparable to Bill Gates’, was not operating under the same philanthropic ideals that would be foreseeable to some.
It is interesting to look at Jobs as a leader within the context of General Krulak’s three values: integrity, moral courage, and selflessness. In most all successful and “good” leaders, at least one of the values if not more can be found.
