The world was ready for the surges of advancements that the Renaissances brought forth at the end of the Middle Ages, and the reason for that is that the world was in such disrepair, with the Bubonic Plague and plenty other contributing factors. The church was somewhat a place of power during the Dark Ages and Renaissance. During the Renaissance, the Medici family had very close connections with the Church. Whenever the church needed something, for example, a new painting of the Last Supper, it would ask the Medici family to help find one.
