How Does Racism Affect Our Society

Whether you are Caucasian, African-American, Latino, or Asian, racism is something that affects all of us. It is an issue that can be found everywhere in the world. Our society has been in a constant battle with racism for many years and will probably be dealing with this issue for years to come. It is important for people to comprehend how racism takes a toll on others, so that we can begin to heal the wounds that divide us. The pigmentation of one's skin should not have an impact on the way they treat one another.
We all come from different backgrounds and have different stories. The way that you were raised and taught defines the person that you become. Who you grow up with influences your beliefs and personality. Parents should teach their children to be respectful
People should educate themselves about others’ beliefs and cultures to get an understanding of them. People tend to generalize an entire race based on the actions of one person, not realizing that the same behaviors can often be viewed in different races. It is not right to assume or look down upon one’s race due to the actions of an individual, especially when perhaps the same thing is happening within your own community.
Racism is a global issue that everyone has experienced at least once during their lifetime, whether through being discriminated against personally or through observing others. It may not be easy to get rid of but being open minded and educated about others background will help solve this issue. Our youth must be taught to respect and love one another. No matter your skin tone or race, everyone should feel important and not look down upon others, or even yourself. We are all significant and unique in our own ways, and it is our decision to work together and end this battle of racism.
