Understanding the Non-Verbal Cues of Communication:
”How to be an Effective Speaker”
Summary
Communication is a two-way process to communicate but apparently, non-verbal communication is usually understood as the process of communication through sending and receiving wordless (mostly visual) cues between people. It is the most secretive and genius type of communication process when a message is a private type. Last December 13, 2012, group 1 seminar class tackled about non-verbal cues of communication which the speaker is Sr. Myra. She talks about the different kinds of non-verbal cues that some people still not aware by this types and surely, until now they keep on practicing this type of cues without knowing if this type are good, appropriate, and right. The speaker discuss about posture, clothing, action, image, hand movement, facial expression, body language and how a person dress up. Posture is one of the different kinds of non-verbal cues because posture or every single move of a person’s body is a message. Posture can be used to determine a participant/s about how she/he feels towards someone or something. Facial expression in which a single blink of an eye express a message, like for example: smirking, furrowing of the forehead and eye contact. Clothing is also one of the non-verbal communications because some people judge a person objective or maybe in general. Clothing speaks of who you are and what type of person you are in the first place. A person can identify a business man if he wears formal attire with a briefcase. Action is also a non-verbal communication because action speaks louder than words. Action can be seen by our naked eyes even though you keep hiding stupid secrets in your life. Hand movement or touch is also a nonverbal cue because it reflects your identity through your hand movement, like for example: tapping your friends shoulder or handshake
