Humorous Wedding Speech: The Orthodox Christmas Day
Good Morning Alisa,

I completely forgot to inform you, that on Thursday January 7, I will not come to work due to the Orthodox Christmas. All Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on this day. We are still on the Julian Calendar. I was trying to see if I can use a religious day off.

In the Columbia College Staff Handbook I could not found information on religious holidays beside Christmas Holiday on December 24 & 25. However, I did found out that staff employees are eligible to take the day off with pay on their birthdays and if staff employees birthday falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, arrangements may be made to take another day off. My birthday falls on Sunday (July 31) therefore I would like to check with you if I can use my

“Our Christmas tree was never even an inch under eight feet, and it took the whole family hours to decorate it. Each year one of us was honored by being allowed to place the angel at the top of the tree, while Father help us up in his strong arms.” (Pelzer 22). This passage is a simile because this is how we are in Christmas, our tree would be long and it takes us a whole hour to decorate it. We are allowed to place the star on top of the tree, and that is what’s amazing about it. This brought my attention and interested me because it showed how good the mother was to her children and hoe kind she treated them, because the name of the chapter called Good Times. It also shows that the kid remember how good she was and then how she turned…

Hey Virginia, there is more than just a Santa Claus. Nowadays, Americans have either forgotten or ignored Christmas traditions put in place over 1500 years ago. They would rather indulge in the gifts and shopping to please their family than sit back and enjoy the holiday. This new mindset has led Christmas, Hanukkah, and other seasonal festivals to lose their religious intent through the past centuries by the hands of both people and markets. The original purpose of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, has been trampled and overshadowed by a marketeer’s interpretation of how to represent the holiday. Santa and snowmen have become the faces of Christmas, instead of the Son…

Christmas has long been a widely celebrated holiday around the world which brings in millions of dollars of revenue into the retail industry. Other than being known for gift-giving and spending a gracious amount of money on others, Christmas is also known for spending time with family and friends and feeling a sense of joy that is only felt during this time of year. Although, the past few years haven’t been exactly joyous because of the arguments over whether we should greet others by saying “merry Christmas” or “happy holidays.” It has become such a big issue that even President-elect Donald Trump stated “If I become president, we’re gonna be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ at every store…You can leave ‘Happy Holidays’ at the corner” (Austin). Being politically correct is important in many aspects, but not when it comes to Christmas. The holiday is and has been for many years celebrated by people everywhere, even non-Christians, so it shouldn’t matter which greeting we choose to use.…

I separate my broad hand from my chest after the glorious music fades into oblivion. As I comb my fingers through my thick black hair President Saunders strolls onto the patriotic themed stage. He taps the grey microphone 3 times to assure himself that it was on and working. As I look around, I see all the hefty cameras. Filming our pride and joy in all his glory. He coughs to clear his throat, making it obvious that he is slightly nervous. All I want is for him to begin his speech about the brilliant alliance the U.S and Australia have formed. Our countries, that are both beautiful and free, allows so much prospect and potential for our future. All around me are proud American citizens that have one thing in common, the love for our president.…
