Martin Luther King Jr. was born into a black family on January 15, 1929. In 1948 MLK became a minister at a baptist church (Major King Events Chronological 1929-1968). At the age of 22 he graduated from Crozer and starts studying at the Boston University. Two years later, 1953,he meets Coretta Scott and they get married. On November 17, 1955 Yolanda Denise King, MLK’s daughter is born (Major King Events Chronological 1929-1968). By June 23, 1958 King and other civil rights activists meet with President Dwight D. The reason the speech was called “I Have a Dream” is because all the things MLK read were his dreams. His children growing up and holding hands with white kids without getting hurt, injustice was more likely to happen than justice, and justice is the form of peace. In the quote of the “I Have a Dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr. it states “True peace is not merely the absence of tension: it is the presence of justice” in other words you can not fully be peaceful if there is injustice.
