I Pursue My Degree In Biomedical Research
If there is one thing that I am very passionate about is aiding those in poverty. This is an issue that I feel very close to because I have had many experiences with poverty. I was born in the Caribbean island of Haiti which has many issues concerning poverty which has not been completely healed after the 2010 earthquake. When I was four years old my family immigrated to America and we still had financial struggles being in a new country. One thing that I have noticed is how much poverty puts a strain on a person’s health. From not having enough resources to living in stressful situations people who live in poverty are more likely to die. My biggest aspiration is to become a doctor of osteopathic medicine and lead medical outreach to those who live in poverty.
I make it my goal to do all I can in order to become the best doctor I can be, and a big part of that is learning all I can. This is the primary reason why I would want to also earn my masters in biomedical science. I am aware that there are many aspects that impact our health and learning about all these aspects to better serve my future patients.
The world of biomedical science and the world of medicine have always been intertwined. The ground breaking discoveries made in scientific research

Although I did gain an abundance of knowledge through my undergraduate years, I feel that gaining masters degree in biomedical science would be very beneficial to my future endeavors. I especially believe that gaining this degree from a school of osteopathic medicine would further help me reach my goal because of the principles of osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic medicine focuses not only on treating symptoms but also on helping the body heal and the more knowledge that is found through biomedical science the more tools we have to help the body heal

I am interested in pursing the major I chose above because I have developed a passion for medicine through my own health obstacles. I suffer from Chronic Migraines, which has caused me to spend a great deal of my life in doctor's offices. Positive experiences with my doctors lead to me idolizing them as a young child; so much so that I memorized the every bone in the body at the age of five. This passion stayed alive and well as I grew older, however my admiration began to transition from the doctors themselves to the subject. This all stemmed from my own health; I wanted to know exactly what was happening with my body and why. Now, I want to dedicate my life to the subject and possibly be the doctor that inspires someone to discover their…

There are many people who are not as fortunate as I am and the least I can do is lend a helping hand to make their life better. Last summer, I spent a week in Joplin, Missouri with a group from my church making repairs to a house owned by a woman with a special needs child. The owner was extremely grateful for our volunteer efforts and appreciated everything we did. The satisfaction gained from making a positive difference in her life gave me the inspiration to sign up for another week long mission trip planned for Colorado Springs, Colorado this summer. In addition to gaining a broader perspective of life by providing services outside of Wisconsin, I have also assisted local underserved individuals through community outreach on multiple…

I have always thought that I am extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to study abroad; hence, I try to make the most of my time here which is spent doing volunteer work. A program in which I spend most of my time volunteering is called Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) that supports those who are not fortunate enough to go to school, or have a place to live. CEAP does not only give me valuable pieces of knowledge and experiences but also helps me understand that there are many people who are still suffering greatly and are desperately in need of our help.…
