I’m a current student at Northern Virginia Community College and the oldest of five children. My parents and I along with two of my siblings, are immigrants to this nation, from El Salvador. Being the oldest of five, there has always been a huge emphasis on me being the key role model for my younger siblings, to obtain good grades, stay clear of any troubles and to help my parents in anything. We left our livelihood in our country because of gang related violence, government corruption, and lack of opportunities. This is very similar to any immigrant that seeks to resettle in this rich nation, the overall accomplishment that comes along with the ethos of the “American Dream.” Since our arrival to this this nation, my parents, specifically my father, has worked extremely hard. I want to set up shops to teach members skills such English as Second Language, their rights, civil responsibilities and to aid their adjustment to this nation. To persuade the Latino youth to continue their education and to seek to improve their lives. That anything is possible in this life with the right work ethic and positive
