If A Bully Picks On Me, Should I Fight Back
Fighting back can stop bullies

There are many why it is a good idea to fight back to bullies including bullies will back down, nonviolent punishments do not work anymore, and knowing you can fight back gives you confidence.

1 Bullies will back down.
2 One reason on why fighting back to bullies is a good way to solve problems, is that bullies will back down. 3 According to the article, “If a Bully Picks on Me, Should I Fight Back,” by Cole Sanders, “Some bullies don't actually want to fight. They just like to intimidate others or show off in front of their friends. Other bullies back down without a fight if the person they're targeting stands up to them.” 4 This clearly shows that fighting back to bullies will help intimidate them, and when

So, if a person were to bully you to show off to their friend or intimidate, then if you fought and made it a big deal, they would leave you alone. 5 This is like a hammer. A nail will not go into the wood very easily without a hammer. If the hammer pushes the nail, then the nail will recede and go into the wood (give up). This is like fighting bullies because, bullies will not give in unless you hammer them a little, and then they will give up and stop bullying you. Cole Sanders has more to say on the topic of bullies backing down. He says, “Other bullies back down without a fight if the person they're targeting stands up to them.” This quote is saying that fighting back to bullies will work because, the bully will back away if the victim decides to take a stand and fight. This is often shown in gambling. Gambling is all about making bluffs and intimidating your opponent. But, if your opponent calls your bluff, you will most likely back …show more content…
3 In this article, “The Bullies Will Keep Winning if Kids Don’t Fight Back,” by Karol Markowitz, it say that, “After [a teenagers] death, her 14-year old tormentor kept up her online bile, posting: “Yes ik [I know] I bullied [the girl] and she killed herself but I don’t give a [crap ]” on her Facebook page.” 4 This shows that fighting back to bullies is a good idea, because nonviolent punishments don’t work anymore. If someone is posting about bullying and causing death because of it, they are not worried about punishment. But, if you were to give them a fat lip, then maybe they would be. 5 This is like sharpening a pencil. If you put the pencil into the sharpener for a short time, when the pencil comes out, it will not be sharp. But, if you leave the pencil in for a longer time, the pencil will come out sharp and ready to use. This is like fighting bullies because, if you give the bully a temporary punishment, then they will forget it quickly. It will not matter to them. However, if you give the bully a more lasting punishment, like a bruise or black eye, they will finally have the repercussions that will make them stop bullying

If you think that the punishments that we are giving now are fine, keep reading because I might just change your mind.…

W.E Jacobs and Maureen McMahon in their article “Counterpoint: School Children Should Learn to Defend Themselves against Bullies” from the Points of Reference Center expresses why they believe that children should be able to defend themselves from bullies. Jacobs and McMahon argue that bullying is everywhere and has two aspects which is the victim that is supposed to act a certain way to the bully and the bully who shows the aggression. Most of the bullying going on now a days has to do with children, mostly in schools or on social networking. Many people do want to stop this such as teachers and parents but they are unable to because it doesn’t happen around them (Jacobs and McMahon np).…

Every day, somewhere in the world, someone is getting bullied and it’s your choice whether or not to do something about it. Most people choose to stay out of harm’s way if they’re not the one getting bullied and few people choose to stand up for themselves if they are the one bullied. I believe that helping or asking for help is the only way to solve a bullying problem. The reason why people choose not to say anything is because they’re scared of what might happen. The “consequence” of telling on someone is what most people think about first, so why put yourself in a place where you don’t need to be right? If it’s not your problem then it’s not a problem to you at all? These thoughts are the reasons why bullying is never stopped.…

Bullying has become an epidemic, and it needs to come to an end. If people will stand up for each other and protect each other, I believe bullying would cease to be effective. It preys on those who do not have the confidence to defend themselves. Often times, the bully hurts others as a way of protecting himself. He believes that if he attacks others, then they will not know he himself is hurting, or has been hurt in the past. It becomes a coping mechanism for him. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that bullying should not be responded to with more violence. They need to be shown love, but firm love. A love that says, “I love you enough to not let you continue down this path. Let me show you another way.” Then you are not only l protecting those that the bully hurts, but also you are protecting the bully himself in the long run.…

Edmund Burke said, “ The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” This means that if others don’t step up to evil people who bully others it will go on and on until someone good stops it. For example in the article “A Bully’s Bystanders are Never Innocent” by Barbara Coloroso states that “ bullies come in all shapes and sizes and can be bullied in any form or way unless someone steps up and stops it. I agree with Edmund Burke and his quote it is the truth if someone good see’s someone getting bullied and doesn’t try to stop it the next thing that might happen is that they may also get bullied in the long run.…

My Bodyguard could also be helpful to a teacher because it gives us a better understanding of the bullies. This movie shows us that bullies are nothing but cowards. Some bullies are looking for attention. They might think bullying is a way to be popular or to get what they want. Most bullies are trying to make themselves feel more important. When they pick on someone else, it can make them feel big and powerful. The two main reasons people are bullied are because of appearance and social status. Bullies will only bully you if you look weak and you are scared of them. When you learn to stand up for yourself, the bullies will back off and eventually stop bugging you. People become bullies because they have many problems in their lives and they try…
