My dad would sit there for quite some time and get frustrated and then would resort to giving up and saying, “I knew we should have bought something already built” and I would go and give it a try. I remember this desk story in particular because he had buckled under within the first 15 minutes. I was determined, I sat for a good hour or two and wouldn't leave until I had finished the project. My whole life I was defined by my determination to complete something, I would not be able to leave a task until it was completed, no …show more content…
Being the “man of the house” I took on the duties of taking out the trash, cleaning up the house, fixing small problems, and being my sisters protectors. I always wanted to be the example for my sisters that giving up was not an option. I could spend minutes to hours cleaning up my room, there couldn’t be anything out of place. “Never give up, and be confident in what you do. There may be tough times, but the difficulties which gave you face will make you more determined to achieve your objectives and to win against all odds.” This was what women’s Brazilian soccer star Marta once advised. Never giving up may sound like a goal that is impossible to reach in reality. Although that may be true, in literature there are characters who exhibit it ideally. For instance, Joan Bauer’s short story “A Letter from the Fringe” introduces a figure who showcases these traits. On a somber day, Dana, the protagonist, a high school student at Bronley High was tormented by bullies alongside her friend Sally for being overweight. Although, it seemed as if her heart had been torn out and thrown to the side, she was capable of forcing the two tyrants to flee. Afterwards, she insisted that they had no right to…

Based on the quote “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” by Babe Ruth a person should learn to never give up because when you give up you will not get anywhere in life. Overcoming all the failures in life is going to be hard but it will be worth it. Giving up on the dreams you have had will not take you places you should always keep your head down and drive through all the failures you have faced. If you give up that makes you further away from what you have been dreaming about failure is a mere shadow of success, once you succeed you will look back at your failures and take them in as the way you reached success.…

The decision I made that day was certainly not easy. Part of me wanted to give up and avoid the risk of disappointment and failure, but I chose to pursue my goals despite my fear of failure that stood in my way. I realized that failure is in essence a lack of success; therefore, quitting is the ultimate failure because it precludes any chance of success. From my new perspective, quitting to avoid failure would be absurd. I would gain absolutely nothing by not trying, so I decided to improve and try out again the next year.…

All you need to do now, is try.”also “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” I had to really think about what it really meant but now I…
