Importance Of Being An American
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Being an American is being free and open for change. Change is almost like an occurring thing. Sometimes I wish that maybe instead of making change, we could understand what we have first, almost take recognition. Then suddenly, we muster up something in a moment and then we feel it's not good enough so we build onto something new. Why can’t we understand what we have, rather than trying to make something new?

We have people fighting for us yet we can not fight for ourselves. They can stand their ground, but can we stand ours? It’s almost as if the ground is flooding away, getting ripped from underneath of us.

Being an american is supposed to mean something to us. We have made our country. We have built our ground. American is a treasure, it is not a name it is a privilege. Our forefathers built for us and we should be proud of it. Are you...

We have tragedies, but doesn't everyone? It's become an everyday thing now. Building and breaking, its what we do and that is what we are made of.
Being an American means having potential, it means breaking but always remembering you can fix this, you can make it better. It means believing in yourself, and others around you. Even if they rip the ground out from below, you still have to believe. It’s all you have ever known.

Be proud to be an American. Be proud to stand your ground, even if it is stolen it is still there, it is still yours. Your privilege. Your name. You built that, it made us who we are. Are you proud now? Because building ground off of ash is not easy but we did it. We believed. We made that happen. Being able to muster something out of nothing was once told to be impossible. We did the impossible. Are you proud? Because I am proud. And it means something. That's what being an american means to me. What does it mean to

What does it mean to be an American, to me it means that I have certain rights and freedoms that nobody can take away from me unless I deserve them to be taken. Most people believe that being an american means that you can get away with doing whatever you want because they have freedom of speech or the rights to do it, but sometimes those rights don’t apply and to me that seems like they are just trying to take advantage of what everyone believes what being an American means. Being an American means that you have more privileges than most countries do and people take that for granted.…

An American is someone that possesses the courage to stand up for what is right in any situation. No one should ever have to suffer for what they believe in because someone else doesn’t approve and America is a place where we strive to allow everyone their own beliefs and happiness. Anyone, no matter where they are originally from, should be allowed to follow their dreams and live the life that they see for themselves. Not very long ago, a 19-year-old boy named Hamzah Aljahmi closed his eyes, never to wake up. His family had immigrated to America from Yemen with a dream of being free to do as they please. Hamzah discovered his own dream along the way. This was a dream shared by a 21-year-old Native American boy from a poor family. Professional boxers.…

America became a country on July 4th, 1776; over 240 years ago. That’s greater than 240 years of generations of people trying to define what it means to be an American, but few still stand true today from that long ago. Being accepting of others, not only other ethnic groups but fellow Americans as well, is one way in which things have not changed from the first American generation to the latest. One of the longest standing traits of the “poster child” American is being courageous, whether it be to earn our freedom or to fight for our rights as a civilization. Taking pride in our country is one of the oldest, and strongest, qualities of an American that was so important in the forming of our country and of equal importance, if not more so, today. Our generation defines what it means to be an American with the simple, and somewhat original, manner of being accepting of others, being courageous, and taking pride in our country.…

America was created to have freedom. Our fellow neighbors die for this cause, and there are ways to support them and this country that we should take advantage of. Thankful for this independent countries progress, I want to promote the importance there is behind the civic duties we follow, the traditions we hold, and the amount of respect we as americans place on our troops. Although there may be differences, and America is one of the biggest on-going melting pots with multiple backgrounds, each person shares a responsibility to upkeep the love of our freedom. For Americans to come together and share in the traditions that have been made before us and the ones we continue to create are the ways we can represent the love and significance of Americanism.…

    Love for Your Country

Being proud of being American is like being proud of being Christian: how can you be proud of that? If you want to be proud, be proud of your achievements! You've taught yourself quantum physics, that's a reason to be proud. Your artwork just sold for a whole bunch of money, that's a reason to be proud. You have just learned to read Kanji, that's a good reason to be proud. However, being proud because you can wave a cross or a specific flag? Being proud of where, exactly, your house is located? Where's the sense of that? You have no impact on America. You don't, in any significant way, affect it. Were your vote to count for a hundred votes, you'd still not affect the country one whit. Therefore, why be proud of something for which you're not responsible, of something that you haven't created or affected? Call me stupid (odds are some folks will anyway),…
