What Makes An American Successful

Being an American can mean numerous things. Such as being proud, brave, and confident. But most importantly, it means being free. Families and individuals come to the U.S with the hope of a new life and a greater future. They see it as a fresh start as well as a chance to start over and become more successful. All of those who arrive to America are in search of a life fulfilled with freedom, liberty, and happiness. Accomplishing these three things are what makes an American “successful.” It doesn’t matter where you came from, what religion, or what ethnicity you are. America is the land of the free. The things that make you an American is being a symbol of the “American Dream.” In school students were taught the pledge of allegiance. When
they are saying this pledge they are not pledging to the flag or the government itself, but to the ideas of freedom and equality. The government says that they give the people these rights, but we are the ones who give them the rights. “We the people” means that we are the ones who make up America. The government would not run without the support of its people. We are divided by leaders and politicians who sometimes look down upon the citizens but forget that they were once apart of them. In conclusion, what it means to be an American is to live a life full of freedom and happiness. Coming to America is a privilege, and becoming an American means having a successful outcome in every aspect of life. Such as having a good job, large family, and religious freedom. Even though our government doesn’t always do what is right for it’s people. It’s the American’s job to stand by their own morals. Being an American is taking pride in your country and living up to the American dream.
