In This Ship Is The Kaliningrad
“This ship is the Kaliningrad. The Americans call it the OMEGA. The last letter of the Greek alphabet. The end-all, the ultimate” (DiMercurio 35). This quote is describing the Kaliningrad, which is a Russian submarine. This submarine is literally invincible because the submarine takes advantage of water and uses it as a type of armor. The water is a meter or two from the actual body of the submarine, so the sub can take several hits without dying. The book takes place basically during the Cold War where basically submarine war was the only strategy. The commander of the American submarine Michael Pacino is assigned a mission to get a sound check on the Kaliningrad because each submarine makes a different sound. The first thing that I can connect to Michael Pacino is that we both are good leaders. Michael Pacino is a good leader by leading a huge crew, and having them all cooperate and coordinate well with each other. “We need the best commander the business has, which is you Michael” (DiMercurio 132). I can connect to that because at home I am a leader for my family because I drive almost everywhere, I help pay bills, and I also help make family decisions. This is one reason how Michael and I implicate with each other. My next reason why I can connect to Michael is because we both have lost a loved one. Michael was probably closer to his father as was I to my grandpa. Michael lost his father when his father was on a mission on taking down a Russian submarine. This mission was also the last mission that Pacino’s father had before he came home for a while. Pacino also took in his father’s footsteps by becoming a commander of a submarine. I also lost my grandpa, which I was kind of close to but it certainly was not a father son relationship. My last reason that I can connect to Michael Pacino is that we both can endure the same thing on a regular basis. What I mean by this is that he is on a submarine for more than half of a year going through the same old, same old every day. He wakes up, does his commander thing, and then goes to bed. I can easily connect to this because for more than half of the year I go to school, which is also the same old, same old everyday. Also we both take long breaks in between each session. The only difference is that my break is called summer break and his break is called leave. With these 3 reasons I can connect to the main character Michael

If you can connect with a character in a movie, it can be beneficial to your own life, possibly helping you to improve yourself. In The Breakfast Club, it is revealed that each character suffers due to at least one of the following problems: Living in an abusive home, extreme pressure from parents to succeed, being ignored by their parents, low self-esteem, being used by their parents, and peer pressure from their friends. Although you may not be able to relate directly to all of these tragic matters, you very likely may be able to relate to their feelings in some way, and if not, knowing how the characters feel could help you understand what someone you know might be going through. Raimond Gaita’s memoir, “Romulus, My Father” (RMF), Evan Hunters short story “On the Sidewalk Bleeding’ (OTSB), and “The Oasis”, a Shark Island Documentary, explore this notion through employing the universal themes of compassion, alienation and love as they enrich characters sense of hope, significance, comfort and security- fundamental to a sense of belonging, or paradoxically lead to a sense of isolation and exclusion.…

A bookcase, or bookshelf, is a piece of furniture, almost always with horizontal shelves, used to store books. It may be fitted with glass doors. A bookcase consists of a unit including two or more shelves which may not all be used to contain books or other printed materials. Shelves may be fixed or adjustable to different positions in the case. In rooms entirely devoted to the storage of books they may be permanently fixed to the walls and/or floor. Bookcases frequently have doors that should be closed to protect the books from air pollution, and bookshelves are open-fronted. These doors are almost always glazed, so as to allow the spines of the books to be read. Especially valuable books may be kept in locked cases with wooden or glazed doors. A bookshelf normally stands on some other piece of furniture such as a desk or chest. Larger books are more likely to be kept in horizontal piles and very large books flat on wide shelves.…
