Indiana University Application Essay
“Why Indiana University?” Well for starters I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana surrounded by the ones I love. As a child I was never really into dolls like other girls, instead I enjoyed role playing. I would play house, chef, doctor, and even cops. As I grew older that’s when the questions started to form. I remember being asked all the time “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, and at first I admit I didn’t really know, but I remember seeing a movie about being a lawyer and that immediately sparked my interest; so I decided that’s what I wanted to be. I always knew that I wanted my career to be based on the moral of helping others, whether that be adults, teenagers, or children I knew I wanted to help people and make a difference …show more content…
The qualities I see in myself and that others see in me are all qualities that I feel a pediatrician should have. I have such a passion for pediatrics and my compassion to help the sick get well and the healthy stay healthy will take me far in life. I know that I can succeed in pediatrics because that is truly where my heart lies. One of the main reasons I chose Indiana University was because they allow endless opportunity to gain knowledge; there is always more to learn. They allow for research opportunities, internships and there is also options for leadership as well, all things that I can see myself pursuing. I feel that Indiana University will prepare me for not only being a leader, but will allow me to have endless opportunity to work in my field of study. I see myself as a positive role model and I hope to express that when attending Indiana University. Overall I plan to make the most of my college experience by obtaining as much knowledge in my field as I can. And I wish to graduate college feeling accomplished, equipped, and able to help young people and their families in the future journey’s of my

In considering which path to take in graduate school, I immediately had a flashback to when I would travel with my mother and care for my younger siblings while she worked as a counselor to provide assistance with psychosocial support and mental health care to communities, families and individuals in conflict and post-conflict situations. Having the opportunity to observe her and the organization change so many people’s lives while providing them with hope, planted the seed of nurturing and counseling in my heart. Since middle school I have devoted my time to taking on every opportunity that comes my way to volunteer with helping my community better the lives of our youths.…

My parents, like countless immigrants, relocated my family of five in pursuit of the highly sought after “American Dream.” The excitement quickly wore off once I was confronted with the realization that we will now be residing in a one bedroom, one bathroom basement apartment in Brooklyn, New York. While my parents attempted to provide for my brothers and me, I undertook the task of mastering the English language. In contrast to my classmates, my learning recommenced after school; I spent countless hours reviewing index cards struggling to obtain a grasp of the English language. For added support I attended an English as a second language class, where I received one on one attention. The alienation from the classmates that surpassed me with ease triggered feelings of inadequacy; this only fueled my determination to succeed.…

The moment I began the first draft of the essay that would be the grounds for a major life transformation, I had just concluded a vehement, impassioned debate with my Student Senate president regarding our Student Constitution. So as I stare at this empty page, ready to convey that ILR is where I want to make my home in the coming years, my mind is crowded with thoughts of the bylaws of Article IV, the elements the president brought up, and how I might have been wrong. Yet my inability to restrain my enthusiasm for this piece of legislation is precisely why I fit at ILR. I will be free to continue my ardent deliberation of student legislation as a transfer class representative in the Student Government Association, and I will declare a minor…

I am a born leader and I would love to be able to bring my passion for leading and hard-work to Indiana University. Over the years I have moved a lot and been to four different schools throughout middle school and high school. At first it was a struggle to keep my grades up while trying to make friends and play sports, but I have since found that the key is all things in moderation. I play tennis and am a cheerleader for my high school and plan on continuing these sports while at IU. I love the spirit that revolves around the school sports and other events at Indiana University. I would be very involved with keeping the Indiana Hoosier traditions alive. I also plan to be involved with the Greek life at Indiana University. If I am given the opportunity to attend Indiana University, I would want to study business.…
