My mother and father never told me that they were married I took it on my own and knew that they was. They were two young adult you fell in love with each other and they wanted to spend the rest of their live together. They had a very normal wedding, what they could afford at the time; most of the family attends the wedding giving present to the new bride and groom. When they were married the preacher said I now pronounce you man and wife. The preacher was

“GOD said it was not good for a man to live alone so he put Adam to sleep and he took one of Adam rib and made a woman. This is consider to be the perfect marriage, not one time did he said let two men or two woman comes to together and to multiply. Two men or two women cannot reproduce with each other how can we say that this is good in the eye of GOD?”(Stevens, 2014) We need to take a closer look in to what is a marriage? For many, many years the marriage vows was done between a man and a woman. This is a union. What can we say about love when it between two of the same sex? Can they get married, is that type of marriage acceptable in GOD eye or his laws. We have been taught through Sunday school and regular church that GOD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sinful way. It was said because they did not welcome guest and they was doing all kind of wicked stuff which include homosexual activity. We must ask ourselves what is the meaning of marriage? To think of what will happen if two male or female get married with that be acceptable. When it comes to marriage it is mostly a private matter. The promoters of same-sex “marriage” propose something entirely different. They propose the union between two men or two women. This denies the self-evident biological, physiological, and psychological differences between men and women which find their complementarily in marriage. It also denies the specific primary purpose of marriage: the…

All religions state that only men and women are meant to be married not man to man or woman to woman. Andrew stated in his article that gay married is not a sin and also writes “there may be religious reason for resisting gay marriage that within certain tradition is unanswerable” which I believe is nonsense. The bible says “one man to one woman” I believe most religions believe that God created Adam and eve as the first human beings and soul mates. In the word of bible gay marriage is not accepted, there are not any words in the bible that describe that homosexuality’s acceptance in the eyes of god. So saying that homosexuality is not a sin is an offence to the…

I do not believe in the bible and I am allowed to marry in any church or place with open arms in the name of God. Everyone takes this argument to the bible, how many mothers kick their children out for being gay is growing everyday. 1 Timothy 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. From what I have read online and from the parents words and what they have written they are christian. They are worse than an unbeliever, worse than me, And I believe that anybody can love no matter what race, religion, how old you are you can still love. What if being gay was normal and being straight was a sin? You would be sinning everyday and you know what you would feel. Bad you would wanna kill yourself, you wouldn't wanna be yourself anymore because everyone hates you. Or you would live through it and be the happiest person on the planet and nobody could stop you. The bible was written by a bunch of guys. People can not be made from clay, someone can not be made of dust. I went to church and I sang for people, I never paid attention to the pastor because well I did not believe in the bible. He spoke about how anyone who loved the same gender as themselves would be burned in hell for all eternity. I got up right in the middle of his speech and left that room. My uncle was sent to prison for flirting with a man in a bar, My other uncle had to get a divorce with his husband and their children were taken away because people would riot outside there house and they put the kids lives at danger. What's so wrong with gay marriage anyhow? Are they touching you, bothering you, are they trying to turn you? No so leave them alone. In human nature I do believe that we all want to outrank each other and be better. Christians…

The author of the article is clearly in favor of same sex marriage; however his example really does not pertain to the actual issue When he illustrated the example of the women getting hit by a drunk driver and sent away to a nursing home, it caused a separation from her spouse (woman). It sounds more like a personal problem, not like a general issue regarding same sex marriage. He does make good point in regards to the validity of legal matter, for instance “legal proceedings”, “tax advantages” and “pension programs” (738) are not accepted in society only marriage and they are not entitled to it. People that want same sex-marriage should not be given the right and no document should approve of that. To make a legal document the government must have some type of involvement. There is no way that the government can be excluded from marriage; it’s the only way to make a document valid. Stoddard states that “the decision whether or not to marry belongs properly to individuals—not the government” (738). Now referring to the Bible, it clearly states that same sex marriage is a sin and those who surrender to it will be punished. When a man was created, God realized that with in his creation a woman would complement the life of a man. It is in each…

Who is to say who we can and cannot marry? The main issue is that homosexuals cannot explore the chance of marrying the one the love, while heterosexuals can marry freely. This action of not being allowed to being married is an act of being inferior than others, and dehumanizing. Sullivan and Bennett aren’t the only ones with beliefs on gay marriage; there will always be an opinion of gay marriage. Now that gay marriage is a possibility across America, people have become more open minded, time is changing. Who knows maybe gay marriage will be accepted as straight…

Most Christians of all denominations believe that a “traditional marriage” is the union between two people of the opposite sex and only have one significant other. Moody explains, “Christians feel superior about their ‘tradition’ of marriage, I would remind them that their scriptural basis is not as clear about marriage as we might hope” (353 Moody). He discusses how in the Bible that some important men have more than one wife and some children have different mothers and fathers. Most people forget this or choose not to see it that way. They “seem to be unaware of the real history of the institution of marriage” (Mataconis). Anti-gay religious groups and anti-gay individuals are people who discriminate gays and lesbians and believe that they should not be given a “traditional marriage” because they view them as sinful and damned in hell for all eternity. Moody explains that these religious groups and individuals do not realize that their so called “traditional marriage” isn’t as what it seems to be. In earlier periods of time, such as the 1700s and 1800s, “Marriage was about property and power rather than mutual attraction. It was a way of forging political alliances, sealing business deals, and expanding the family labor force. For many people, marriage was an unavoidable duty” (Mataconis). As Mataconis states, a “traditional marriage” was thought of as a legal contract; that a couple who was to be married should be married under certain circumstances, not out of love as people nowadays believe it to be.…

Those are marriages are strictly between a man and a woman and marriage is a privilege, not a right. In bible it is often quotes that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. So in the case of Baker v. Nelson, the Supreme Court of Minnesota found that “the institution of marriage as a union of man and woman, uniquely involving the procreation and rearing of children within an family is as old as the book of Genesis” (Gay Marriage - ProCon.org). So two couple of the same sex getting married is contradictory to that belief. Many Christian believers believe that it is morally wrong to allow same-sex marriage. These can be attributed to religious texts. Oppose group of marriage equality believe that marriage is a privilege and not a right. The classes that are protect under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 include “(1) a history of longstanding, widespread discrimination, (2) economic disadvantage, and (3) immutable characteristics… ‘Sexual Orientation’ does not meet any of the three objective criteria shared by the historically protected civil rights categories” (Gay Mariage – ProCon.org). Same-sex marriage contradicts nature. Two people of the same sex will never be able to marry because it is biologically…

Gay marriage has slowly become a social norm amongst individuals of today’s society. Initially, this leads to the discussion of homosexuals having the right to marry in society. Ultimately, conflict from the opposing position of ‘against’ gay marriage may arise that gay marriage can destroy the concept of marriage and mock the importance of the bible. In reference to this; everyone in society has the right to marry regardless of gender, thus it should be socially acceptable. However, this is why it is significant to discuss both sides of the argument, regardless homosexuals do not…

There are a numerous amount of reasons as to why people oppose gay marriage, but basically it comes down to an absolute infringement on the civil liberties of homosexuals. The most basic argument for the opposition to gay marriage is the simple statement ?Marriage is an institution between one man and one woman.? I would like to know who is to decide what marriage is and isn?t. The married? Politicians? The Bible? Isn?t freedom of religion also freedom from religion? Somehow the ?Bible? assertion always seems to arise into modern political debates. I want to know whatever happened to separation from religion and state. I want to know when white male Christians are going to realize that there are many other religions, races, and sexual orientations out there other than their own. In fact, Scott Bidstrup cleverly states, ?many sects of Buddhist celebrate gay relationships freely and would like to have the authority to make them legal marriages. In that sense, their religious freedom is being infringed.? Although, the Bible argument should immediately be dicounted, even if we were to survey the text, who is to interpret the statements. ?People in the late 1800s and early 1900s justified the exploitation of slaves claiming that the Bible clearly showed Gods support for it. Now people are saying that they can clearly see Gods condemnation of gays.? (Silver 64) For a moment, branching off from the marriage topic, I?d like to just…

A lot of people have religious purposes on why “gay marriages” should be frowned upon. These people of religion oppose same-sex marriages because “they close the sexual act to the gift of life.’ Meaning homosexuals are non-procreative, they cannot reproduce. If sex without the possibility of creating life is wrong, then people will have to stop masturbation, infertile women shouldn’t be allowed to have sex or elders over the age of seventy years old cannot have intercourse either. Another moral argument would be homosexuality is “unnatural”. Steve Waldman states, “God created man and women with certain complementary capacities, and not to use them as an insult to the Creator.” In the bible it…

say marriage is between a man and a woman which is why several religious persons reject gay marriage and believe it to be a sin. For example, in The Bible, Jesus Christ says “Haven't you read,' he replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator "made them male and female," and said, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?" So they are no longer two, but one” (Matt 19:46, NIV). Another example from a…

Christians are divided over the issue of homosexuality. Due to natural law homosexual sex cannot lead to reproduction therefore the marriage would be considered invalid, however then a marriage between an older couple or couples who infertile would also be invalid, therefore all homosexual acts and relationships are sinful so many believe homosexuality is contrary to God’s will. However the Roman Catholic Church teaches that homosexual should be treated with respect, compassion and sensitivity and no discrimination, they believe the feeling aren’t wrong but the actions are sinful because they contrary to the will of God. The scriptures of the bible suggest that the only sexual relationship that God approves of is one between married heterosexual partners. The creation narrative describe woman as being created especially for man: “a helpful suitable for him”…
