spend making lesson plans for my classes. I hope that as I become more familiar with putting together lesson plans and they won't take me quite as long, however, I do know that in the beginning I will need to plan on taking extra time to make useful and successful lesson plans.
I also learned how to make lesson plans interrelated with literacy lessons. I never thought to integrate literacy into math lessons. However, once I started to do it, I absolutely loved it. I think reading a literacy book related to math is a fantastic way to excite children and to get them thinking about math. I ended up doing it for all of my lessons because I think it is such a great way to start a lesson. It is something that I plan to do for most of my lessons as a teacher. I think being able to expose students to literature in different venues and in different ways is great for the students in their content areas as well as for their literacy skills. I think it makes lessons fun, which in turn motivates students to learn and remember what is being taught. It also will help students learn to comprehend the material better, which helps in every subject. The more exposure students get to reading comprehension strategies the better they will do in school, across all subjects. The goal of a teacher is for a successful student.
