What kind of challenges did the Student face? What have the Student achieved during the internship?
The main problem of this internship is that people around cannot speak English. Only the two supervisors spoke English however, the boss of the organization doesn’t have an even base of language so he cannot communicate with the interns and he needed a translator if he wanted to say something. The same problem was with his emails because it was sent to students in Italian and they must ask the supervisors or someone who speak Italian to translate the information so if it is something urgent the interns would not understand the message. Also, not only administration doesn’t speak English but people in the office where the interns were suited

At first, students were suited in the hallway at the entrance to the office, and there was no privacy for quiet work, and the only thing that separated the corridor from the students is a small folding screen that doesn’t give the necessary privacy. All incoming people who were going to the office and passed the hallway every five minutes wanted to know something from the students, or just to talk was very to distractive. Also, due to the fact that none of the visitors know English, and students do not understand Italian, was not helpful to the normal communication between guests. Administration makes a deal with the near office so they will provide Wi-Fi connection to the interns but the problem was that they can do it only by putting the router in the small area between two buildings so because of this the connection was very low. The work that intern must do connected to the usage of Wi-Fi and because of slow connection needed internet pages was hard to open and download. Also, if the weather spoils and starts raining router must be removed so it would not break and on such days interns were left without a main source of information for their work. Working in such conditions gave the student understanding of huge reliability on the internet and that’s needed to stop relying so much on social networks.
The supervisor who was in charge of the interns can’t solve the conflicts between employees properly and cannot explain the tasks to interns in the right and easy way, also was too emotional. The heads of the organization behaved unprofessional regarding students that were working with them.

Some of the 21st Century Skills that this internship applied are Civic Literacy and Engagement, Communication Skills, Global Awareness, Interpersonal Skills, Self-Directional Skills, and Thinking and Problem Solving. During this internship I learned more about the deaf community in education and how the government handles it. Communication Skills and Global Awareness also played an important factor because obviously I have to communicate with the kids and in this experience I learned how to interact with these students and teachers. I also learned how the learning environment is like for the interpreters and students and was able to apply it to my internship and hopefully to my Senior Project. The best part of the internship was shadowing the principal. Like we model for our students, it was good to see a typical day for a principal. While I was not able to shadow for a whole day, I was able to select items that I wanted to participate in. These included attending Board Meetings, Parent Teacher Association, Intervention and Referral Services, IEP/504’s, budget planning, hiring, discipline and supervising sports events. These activities showed what events a principal participant in when they are not observing teachers or attending workshops.…

The low light of the internship was the plane flight, it took a day to get here and it was brutal. The other lowlight was that this job involved a lot of social interaction and as an autistic person that is very draining. A third was the racism and sexism some veterans expressed in their speeches. Other than the intense social interaction, which nearly gave me a migraine, these things were fairly minor. In total I had a lot of fun and more importantly learned a lot from this internship.…

I think I performed well at my internship. My strengths include staying positive and adaptable in any situations, and my weakness is my communicating skills. At my internship, I would never know how a student would react sometimes, so if anything did not go according to plan, I was able to adjust my plan. At the same time, I know I need to work on communicating more clearly my thoughts to both my colleagues and the students.…

We are always going to be looking for the best of the best when we shop but also want to know if we really are getting that bang for our buck and how long will it last us?. I know that it can sometimes be hard to shop and look for products especially technological ones that continue to grow and expand upgrading constantly every year sitting on a shelf amongst ten others of the same value and similar uses. I want to inform everyone that it can be easier and to be on the safe side when it comes to shopping and looking into all the different products and comparing them side by side to one another. You can use so many sources to find what you’re looking for and know that you’re getting it for a good price and hopefully with a warranty so that it will outlast your lifetime and have you know that you’re getting the deal you originally wanted but didn’t know it yet.…

During my internship I have had the opportunity to watch and learn from those around me. I was able to learn about different leadership styles and how people reacted to the managers. My internship offered a couple different challenges. The most difficult challenge was learning to work with difficult people. There were many times that I wanted to just give up, but I had to learn that no matter where I work I am likely to encounter at least one person that I think is tough to work with. After accepting this truth, I was able to overcome the overwhelming urge to change jobs. Even though many of my tasks seemed repetitive, from time to time, there were small changes made that helped make simple tasks complicated.…

This internship provides the chance to apply the theories I have learned from my major subjects specifically in psychological testing and administration and guidance and counseling. In line with psychological testing and administration, my experience focuses on tagging names to student’s personal data inventory, tallying student’s personal data, administering and interpreting a psychological test. From these experiences, I was able to recognize and understand how a psychological test as an instrument would help students, parents of the students, teachers as well as the improvement of a certain institution or school. Through psychological test results, psychometricians would be able to assess wealth of information on effective study habits for students, effective ways of teaching skills for teachers, etc. This enhances student school performance and reveals maximum learning potential. A psychometrician is responsible for administering and interpreting a psychological test through this psychometricians will become a channel to the guidance counselors as to what programs can be proposed that would become a response to students needs.…
