Principal Shadowing
The best part of the internship was shadowing the principal. Like we model for our students, it was good to see a typical day for a principal. While I was not able to shadow for a whole day, I was able to select items that I wanted to participate in. These included attending Board Meetings, Parent Teacher Association, Intervention and Referral Services, IEP/504’s, budget planning, hiring, discipline and supervising sports events. These activities showed what events a principal participant in when they are not observing teachers or attending workshops. Watching the principal interact with parents and students was a great way to build relationships with stakeholders. These activities took place throughout the school year. I was able to shadow the principal at concerts and school dances. At concerts, he would introduce the director but main importantly thank the Board of Education for their continued support to the extracurricular activities. During shadowing, I was also able to observe a classroom teacher and conduct an observation. The principal …show more content…

The principal’s secretary emails out to all staff that there is a drill. Sometimes I was told that a red sign in posted on the main doors in case a parent was to walk in. This year, the principal also utilizes the cameras to ensure there are no people in the halls. The principal also had decided to make all drill unannounced, this way everyone gets better practice. During drills, the principals must read and abide by the emergency procedures that are in

This includes making sure that all those who are in school have been signed in and identified. Schools may have different methods for doing this, for example visitors may be issued with badges. If staff notice any unidentified people in the school, they should challenge them immediately. If you are on playground duty and notice anything suspicious, you should also send for help. Schools may also have secure entry and exit points, which may make it more difficult for individuals to enter the premises.…

Following, students engaged in an internship breakout session with Dr. Beaupre and PPP Alumni Adam Clark. It is highly encouraged that in the summer between the end of their sophomore year and the fall semester of their junior year, students take on internships, whether that be locally in Cincinnati, back in their hometowns, or in the nation’s capital Washington D.C. The sophomores found this session particularly beneficial because it got students thinking about their summer plans, while allowing them to brainstorm the types of internships that best fit their skills, values, and varying interests.…

Internships are an important part of the growing experience for an individual; they can help determine what one would like to pursue for a future career, and what one would not like to do. My time interning with the National Museum of Civil War Medicine was overall an amazing experience. I now possess an overall understanding of the tasks of a collection manager must deal with on a day-to-day basis. I tackled a multitude of projects while working with Kate McDaniel, the projects consisted of dealing with loan documents, photographing artifacts, designing and creating two display cases, and researching non-accessioned objects. Through this variety of tasks, I have enjoyed some more than others and know how small non-profit museum differ from the larger ones. I loved interning at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, I met amazing individual and learned an immense amount about the field of curation, which I original knew very little about.…

One extracurricular activity that is related to my interest in this internship is my experience at the Jewish Museum. I've worked with mainly children from all ages and backgrounds. I've done session in "Picture This!" where we would bring the visitors to the galleries and create art inspired by our surrounding. I've also done "Storybooks and Arts" where I would read a children's book to the audience and make artworks inspired by the reading. One of my favorite sessions that I've done is "Archaeological Dig" where the children are able to discover treasures from our stimulated dig and learn about the history.…

In order to be a good candidate for this internship, a student must be able to perform tasks in a thorough manner and also be very responsible. These two things are the two single most important things that I learned from interning as security guard at Elk Ridge Ranch. If I were looking into interning with this organization, I would look forward to all of the different people you will get to meet and provide security for, and also the overall satisfaction resulting from providing security for all of the people that visit Elk Ridge Ranch. I have nothing but positive things to say about this organization, and if I were an individual looking for an internship that will lead to very positive outcomes, this would be the place to…

One of the more important things I learned from this internship is that I don’t want to work in California; I dislike the hyper social, flaky, culture. I also learned a lot about how working with a living history program feels like. It was more social than I imagined. This knowledge will affect my life plan in that I am sure I don’t want to go to college or pursue a career in California. I also think I am more inclined to seek a career as a Librarian than as a schoolteacher, given that enjoyed working in a library much more than working in a…
