One of the most meaningful health-related experiences I have had was the time I attended a multidisciplinary team meeting while shadowing an infectious disease pharmacist. In this meeting, various staff members attended such as nurses, specialists, and pharmacists to discuss the health of each patient. One patient at a time, they determined whether the patients were healthy enough to be discharged from the hospital. It made sense to me why this meeting was necessary as additional rooms are always needed for incoming patients. I observed how multiple factors were taken into account prior to discharging patients, and the difficulty that arose when discussing complex cases.
