Jack Kidman's Return Of Dallas: A Fictional Narrative
Jack Kidman watched as the dust settled around the tips of his boots, the old leather synonymous with the rotting wood of the bank. 2:15 in the morning was not sitting well with him, and the effort of thinking had his head pounding. Sighing, he looked back to his brother, who was alert and tense. Dallas, the younger of the pair, held his revolver loosely in his right hand. Hunched in the shadows, the glint of the gun was the only thing that stood out about Dallas’s dark figure. Jack looked across the dark ghost of a large chandelier to the other side of the lobby, where another silhouette crouched. A quick, sharp whistle echoed across the room, and the three men stepped silently into the moonlight. “Do not be seen. If any of these town folk …show more content…
Jack Kidman looked deep into his brother’s eyes, searching intently. He scanned over and over again, praying that he would find it, but it was not there. All of the light and life had drained from Dallas’s eyes. Wanting to scream but not finding the strength to do so, Jack watched as Dallas disappeared from view behind a falling support beam, the flaming pole hitting the floor with a resounding thud. He turned deliberately towards Paxton, but the murderer was gone. A sudden tingling came from his toes, and Jack noticed his boots had caught fire. Again, however, he had not the strength nor will to do anything about it. Most of his sense of feeling was gone, his brother was gone, and he was ready to burn. The next morning, Jack Kidman woke with a start, hitting his head sharply against a solid rod of metal. He opened his right eye to see that he was in a jail cell, caught and convicted of his crimes the night before. He sat up, more aware of his surroundings, and attempted to look around. His left eye would not open, and he ran a finger over the eye socket. Burned and sealed by the flames, his skin had melted over his socket and solidified. He would never see from that eye

I tried to open my eyes but all I could see was darkness. All around me darkness sits, still and quiet. I heard a creak, then a minuscule and weak voice talked, “Sydney, are you alright?” “Mmm” was all I could get out of my weak and tired body. Then the voice talked to me again, “Sydney, this is Dad speaking. The doctor just told me that the impact of you hitting the seat in front of you was very hard, it blinded you for life.” Darkness grabbed me, never letting me be perky and happy again…

“No wonder. It’s been five years since--,” he cut himself off as goose bumps shuttered up and down his back. His breathing hitched as the memories of the aristocrat came flashing back towards him. The hunter could remember every single detail of that man’s face from the snow-white hair to high cheekbones and sharp turned nose, but the thing that he could recall the most about the man were his eyes. They were black eyes that could easily be mistaken to be bright and lightly, but in actuality belonged to a man filled with nothing but insanity and malicious intent.…

I spotted the light flickering by the doorway in the entry hall, signaling that someone was at the door. Another poor innocent soul, soon to be murdered by General Zaroff. I stepped up to the large wooden door, grabbed my black, long-barreled revolver and turned the brass knob. I looked upon the visitor with great curiosity, as he was naked. The revolver was pointed at his beating heart. His eyes showed a slight glimmer of fear, yet he gave a reassuring smile. His mouth began to move and I could only make out two words. Robber and yacht...…

The glistening, white snow fell slowly to the ground outside the window. The distinct shapes of the snowflakes shown; the light from the street lamp seeping through the cracks. Although I have lived in Ohio for the past ten years and have been molded by the experiences I have had in the small town of Mount Vernon, I can still fondly remember everything about where I was born and raised. I was born on May 29th, 1998 in the small town of Irving, Texas. Growing up in Texas gave me a concept of how big this world truly is, with the seemingly endless drives to visit family members across state or the incomprehensible size of the Dallas skyline. Visiting my aunts in Texas and living with my grandmother during the first months of my living in Ohio taught me valuable life lessons and morals that I carry with me to this day.…

I had the opportunity of visiting San Antonio for the first time, and more importantly, of spending time with my family who I had not seen in years prior to the trip. Spending time with my family is of great value and importance to me, so I became utterly excited to see them as soon as I had the chance.…
