Jane Elliot's Blue Eyes Experiment

The research I am examining when discussing qualitative research is focused on Jane Elliot’s Blue Eyes – Brown eyes experiment (Boulton T, 2013). Jane Elliot was a school teacher who had devised an experiment to explore the idea about how race effects student performance. In Elliot’s experiment, she created an environment that had a clearly privileged group and a clearly oppressed group based off of their eye color. Elliot believed that there would be not only a change of the student’s determination to succeed as a student, but also a change in their behavior based on which group they were in. She related this belief based on similarities of the created environment of the classroom to the state of the country at the time, Martin Luther King
