One officer went to investigate in the bedroom with Jeffery while the other stayed with Edwards (Montaldo). The officer that went to search the bedroom found pictures of severed limbs and dead bodies, which gave the men enough of a reason to arrest Dahmer (Crime Museum). The Milwaukee police officers and detectives searched his 213 Oxford Apartment on North 25th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and found the following inside; pictures of alive nude bodies as well as dead ones, heads, bags holding a heart, flesh, and muscle, a freezer filled with 3 heads, a torso, internal organs in bags, chemicals used for preserving, 2 more skulls that had been bleached, a kettle on the floor with hands and male genitalia, skulls in a filing cabinet, a complete skeleton, a human scalp, male genitalia, and 3 severed torsos (Murderpedia). As the trial was coming to a close, the court declared Dahmer guilty and he was indicted on 17 murder charges and 15 counts of murder (Crime Museum). On February 15th, 1992, he was sentenced to 15 life terms (957 years) in jail and sent to the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin to serve his time (Crime Museum). He later said he was remorseful for his crimes and pleaded guilty for his first victim, Stephen Hicks (Crime Museum), as well as confessed to all 17 crimes (History.com). Another life term was added to his sentence for his first murder in Ohio (Investigating Crimes). He adopted a new religious life during his time behind bars and wanted to find Jesus and forgiveness (Crime Museum). While in jail, Jeffrey was attacked twice (Crime Museum). The first time, another prisoner took a knife to his throat and cut him (Crime Museum). He suffered from minor superficial wounds which were non-life threatening (Crime Museum). November 28th, 1994, Dahmer was cleaning the bathroom with two other inmates, Jesse Anderson and Christopher Scarver, when Scarver turned on them, killing both (Crime Museum).
