Jerry Rice
Have you ever met an athlete with a god given talent for a sport? Or have you ever had to play a sport to go “pro” and provide for your family? Well Jerry Lee Rice born October 13, 1962 raised in Starkville, Mississippi had a hard childhood; Jerry grew up “Simon pure”, no street lights, no sidewalks, no sidewalks, no stadium or concerts. As a youngster Jerry saw a lot of poor events in his life but very little of luxury that later became a part of his life. His father, a brick mason built a home for his large family. When money was short, rice helped his father carry bricks and mix mortar. When money was rational, Jerry started to worry about sports. In high school jerry played every position, from quarterback to tackle. The coach started to see that jerry can play at a college level; from there jerry made a promise to a Crawford coach, Archie Cooley, to take a recruiting trip.

A graceful, speedy, and nearly unstoppable wide receiver was born. Rice helped put Mississippi State on the map, the caught more than 100 passes in each of his last two seasons. As a senior he had 28 touchdowns receptions. He was so good that since he was 18 years old he has been doubled teamed. After leading state to a 24-6-1 record, Jerry was going down the road of success, Bill Walsh a 49ers coach heard about the amazing and best wide receiver in the, he had to come and talk to him.

Walsh came to the 1985 pro football draft determined to win jerry’s services for the 49ers.so sold was the coach on rice that he traded up in order to select the young man sixteenth pick in the first round. Instantaneously Walsh took some heat for the decision, because rice had not proven himself in the high-stakes.

Rice’s rookie season had a rocky start. He dropped a record fifteen passes, Rice blamed his early failures on the complex offense that Walsh ran. He simply had to acquire the moves. He said he need to revision, so to the point he could run a play without think about the route, Rice

The player that was drafted in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers is known for his tenacity, but even better for his behavior on and off the field. Troy Polamalu is a two time Superbowl champion and the National Football League's 2010 Defensive player of the year, but you will never hear him stating that he deserves the praise for either of these two accomplishments. The Safety is known for constantly being involved with the community and working hard to make an impact on the field, but he expects very little fanfare and publicity. Troy is the embodiment of ethics in a sport that includes bone breaking hits and trash talkers that can rival the likes of Michael Jordan and Chad Ochocinco. He is an ethical model because of his actions on the field, his selfless attitude, and his contributions to the community.…

Many people dream of playing a professional sport, but not many people would give up that dream to go into the military. Pat Tillman was a football star from Arizona State University and later the Arizona Cardinals. In 2002, Tillman put his NFL career on hold and enlisted in the U.S. Army to become an ranger along with his brother. With this choice, Tillman received a lot of attention from the media, but was humble and did not want to make it a big story. When his coach, Dave McGinnis, from the Arizona Cardinals was asked he answered, “Pat knew his purpose in life. Tillman proudly walked away from a career in football to a greater calling” ("Pat Tillman Foundation”). Through his selflessness, determination, and humbleness, Pat Tillman went from being a NFL star to a respected Army Ranger to finally after his tragic death one of the America’s greatest heroes.…

In 2005 the world had been introduced to one of the best collegiate running backs to ever go through the University of Southern California. His name is Reggie Bush and he achieved one of the best personal awards any collegiate football player could want and that would be the Heisman award. Reggie bush played running back for USC in 2005, he was 6 foot tall and weighed 200 pounds, and he played tailback as a sophomore in college and played in 13 games. He was named “Pigskin club of Washington D.C offensive player of the year.” He was also named the2004 PAC-10 offensive player of the year, “Then He was named the 2005 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year (just the fifth player ever so honored and the first non-quarterback to do it in 20 years) and also made the All-Pac-10 first team as a tailback (the squad's only unanimous pick) and second team as a punt returner.” Nor do I need to mention that he won the 2005 Heisman trophy award by a landslide. Bush received 2,541 points and beat Young by a staggering 93 points. Everybody knows that bush deserves the Heisman trophy whether they want to admit to it or not Bush was the best.…

My article is about the NFL football player Ray Rice who was caught on video surveillance beating up his fiancée viscously until she fell unconscious. In the article it explains that sadly, the NFL has dealt with many domestic violence cases just as bad as this one. In the criminal case, he can avoid prosecution and a criminal record by completing the pre-trial intervention program. Most people who do such an offence wouldn’t be given this option to do instead. Many people believe that since he is professional athlete, he is able to go around the justice system in favour for himself.…

The focal point of Michael Lewis’s The Blind Side is the story of Oher’s transition from a teenager so neglected by society that the Memphis school board can’t really account for his academic record to an eighteen-year-old college recruit with the potential for earning millions when he hits the NFL draft (which he will do this April). Though Oher is the main narrative thrust, the book is a wide-ranging examination of the culture of American football, its tactical development, and most importantly of all, its uneasy relationship with the US educational system.…
