Johnny's Monologue
Would you ever want to hear that two of your really good friends have just passed away? I know I wouldn’t. Dally, don’t be the one, out of the whole gang, to take your life. The gang would be torn apart if something like this were to happen. You wouldn’t want this to happen, right Dally? If you were to end up like Johnny, every single one of us would be grieving you two for the rest of our lives. Even though I think that you’re “tougher than the rest of us--- tougher, colder, meaner,” it doesn’t mean that I don’t like you (Hinton 10). The whole gang cares about you. Think of what Johnny would have wanted. If you were to end your life, the same day that Johnny died, it will be way too much for me and the gang to handle. I would most likely …show more content…
If you were to apply this quality to everyone, greasers and Socs alike, you can still change into a good guy, forgetting about your checkered past. Giving up your bad lifestyle, will certainly make the world a better place, something that Johnny would’ve wanted. The whole gang, especially me, thinks that you’re a really tuff guy, who is the meanest and the coldest out of all of us. Please, if one of us is gone, don’t stop caring about yourself. You are important to the way we roll as a gang. Taking your life will most likely leave us all tumbling down. Remember: there is always room for change.

We all know that you loved Johnny like a little brother, so I get that you are very upset now that he died. Johnny respected you in a way that you couldn’t understand. In fact, I “never heard Johnny talk back to anyone, much less his hero,” which was you, by the way (Hinton 23). You were his hero, Dally, even though you had a really bad reputation, he still admired you. The Dally that I know, would live for Johnny and he would move on with his life, not end it in a way that would make Johnny upset with you. When you finally make your decision, just think about Johnny and how he would respond to all of

Early in the novel, Johnny’s short temper and pride show his more immature characteristics of his personality. Johnny’s pride restricts him from talking to people or asking for help. For example, Johnny refused to show Dr. Warren his maimed hand because his pride prevented him from doing so. Furthermore, when Johnny selfishly spent most of his money that was given to him by John Hancock, he would not visit his more responsible friend, Rab Silsbee, until they were equals. This also demonstrates that Johnny’s pride causes misfortune. In addition to pride,…

Johnny and Dally share one big similarity and that is that they both have abusive parents. Johnny’s parents don’t pay any attention to him or they beat him, that really bugs Johnny. The rest of the gang notices that and they show Johnny the affection that he needs. Ponyboy says “‘His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignores him”’ (12). It is very obvious that Johnny is sensitive about his situation at home. Dally is the opposite of Johnny is his situation at home, he does not care about his parents or if they care about him. Dally says to Johnny, “‘My old man don’t give a hang whether I’m in jail or dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter. That don’t…

Body Paragraph 1: The one most affected by these negative labels is Dally because the words they used to describe him is hood, crook, greaser, hopeless, criminal, and heartless. These are incredibly destructive labels because he got so used to them that he does not love anyone back and I think it is because of his label Heartless. Dally even said “He could never love Cherry Valance back” He barely even loved anything I mean besides the gang and he really did not care when Johnny said he killed Bob Dally just said “Good for you.” He is also addicted to hate because he used to everyone hating him or just saying other things about him. I think he needs a quote like this one “Dear haters I couldn’t help but notice that AwesoMe ends with Me and Ugly starts with U.” That quote explains Dally in my opinion.…

Johnny from the short story The Ransom of Red Chief, is a young rascal that torments everyone around him. First of all, Johnny’s appearance matches his fiery attitude. “The kid was a boy of ten, with bas-relief freckles, and hair the color of the cover of the magazine you buy at the newsstand.” (O’Henry 1) He is also disrespectful towards adults. Johnny kept yelling at complete strangers that were at least twice his age, in a very rude fashion. “Ha! Cursed paleface, do you dare to enter the camp of Red Chief, the terror of the plains?” (O’Henry 2) He also thinks that he is great at being sneaky. “Behind him was the kid, stepping softly like a scout, with a broad grin on his face.” (O’Henry 6) Johnny obviously believes that in his head, he is…
