At the beginning part of the movie, Joy succeed managing and controlling Riley’s good memory and that made Riley fulfilled her self-esteem needs. For example, in the movie, Joy picked a memory ball which was recorded that Riley was cheering her hockey team’s victory with her team members, friends, and family together, and her team members swinging her up over their heads to celebrate victory, this memory made Riley fulfilled her self-esteem needs; in other words, Joy used the memory ball to arouse Riley’s happy memory that she helped her team to win in the hockey match; that enabled Riley to love herself more and feel that she was valuable. Otherwise, at the end of the movie, Joy realized Sadness played an important part in Riley’s memory as well, so she gave Sadness the memory balls to enable Sadness to restore the machine; because of this, Riley realized the most important was that the family lived together rather than wherever she lived. During almost the whole movie, Joy always would have Riley do something fun because Joy wished Riley to just get fun or we can say that Joy wanted to get fun; this could be seen as selfish actually. For example, in the movie, Sadness touched the memory ball and made a sad core memory ball, she really would like to keep it because it was a core memory, but Joy resolutely stopped her, and that made her and Sadness were stocked later. From this example, it was obvious that Joy kept Riley from experiencing any sad feelings so that Riley just need to create happy core memories, which reflected the Id that represents people’s unconscious instinctual trends. At the end of the movie, Joy had realized her problems and would like to balance each character’s work and made a good cooperation with Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger; that seemed reflect Ego. I hypothesize that Joy would act as a coordinator in Head Quarter to balance Riley’s emotions and finally developed Riley’s personality, which reflected
