I have always known that I wanted to be part of the health stream but I was not sure which career I wanted to pursue after my undergraduate studies. So, I decided to go to Saudi Arabia and live the experience. The course offered me, in a small sense, perceptions on the amount of time, effort, and dedication that must be put into studying higher level courses along with the struggles and drawbacks that a graduate student feels on a daily bases. However, the reason why this experience was such an eye opening experience for me is that while I was there, I got to volunteer in a place that reassured my view about medicine and the wonders of healing and hope that it provides people with. I volunteered at King Fahad National Centre for Children’s Cancer. This has been a tremendously rewarding experience. I had the privilege of working under amazing doctors who allowed me to enter the surgery room and get the real life experience of how to perform surgeries. Also, I got the chance to interact directly with the ill children and provide them, along with the affected families, with hope and reassurance. I used my Arabic language to bridge the gap in understanding between me and the patients. This was one of the most meaningful experiences that I have participated in. seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was the biggest reward that I have ever received and I am very delighted that I made that
