There are various parts of the CLPNBC Professional Standards that are under threat as a result of the conditions that the LPN is faced with. One of these is on responsibility and accountability where the LPN should take action to promote safe, competent and ethical care for patients. In this case however, the LPN ends up making decisions on medication without carrying out all the necessary checks which does not promote safe and ethical care for the patients. The LPN is also responsible for advocating development of policies and procedures that are in line with CLPNBC Standards of Practice which has not happened yet. Another standard that is under threat is client-focused provision of service where the LPN has not advocated for changes that would help to improve client care at the facility. The fact that she gives medication before completing some of the checks means that she does not identify and analyze decisions with the use of support tools and data as provided under standard two on competency-based practice. The new issue that arises from the meeting is the fact that the unit face increased pressure to take more residents in order to alleviate pressure from families and caregivers. This means that the conditions that the LPN has been facing will persist. An issue arises from the fact that the director does not take key measures to deal with the situation that the nurse has been facing but instead urges her to keep on doing the same. She even reassures the LPN that she has been doing a good job despite being aware of the fact that her actions in the past have compromised on the quality of healthcare offered at the facility. The conduct of the director shows that she is negligent and not committed towards ensuring that the best care is offered to the residents at the facility. This is also demonstrated by the fact that she is not always on site as pointed out by the LPN.
