The band Pentakill originates from the fictional world of Runeterra and is the world from which the characters of League of Legends are from. The band originally consisted of 5 members from the game: the lead vocalist, Karthus: The Deathsinger; Mordekaiser: the Iron Revenant on guitar; Yorick: The Shepherd of Souls on bass; Olaf: The Berserker on drums; and Sona: Maven of the Strings as the keyboardist; however, in 2017 Pentakill introduced a new member Kayle: the Judicator as a backup vocalist. The band’s peak popularity is hard to exactly pinpoint due to the band’s unconventional emergence and also from the band not being a physically existing entity in our reality; however, one can look at the popularity of their content through their views, downloads, or plays and determine that the band's peak popularity was in 2014 with the release of the album Smite
and Ignite. The band’s most viewed song from Smite and Ignite is Lightbringer with 16 million views and the least viewed song from that album was The Hex Core with 1.39 million views under the League of Legends official YouTube channel. The company behind producing League of Legends and thus being behind Pentakill is Riot Games which is based in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. Something that the players of the game may not know about Pentakill is the real life members of the band. The vocals for the songs Deathfire Grasp and Last

Whisper in Smite and Ignite were done by ZP Theart, who is well known from bands like DragonForce, and Skid Row, while a lot of the other songs were sung by J ø rn Lande who is well known from bands like Ark and Beyond Twilight. Smite and Ignites other production crew had Eugene Kang on bass, Derek Sherinian on keyboard, and Christian Linke on guitar. The album Grasp of the Undying had the return of J ø rn Lande on vocals, and Eugene Kang on bass; however introduced Jason Willey aka ProtoShredanoid on guitars, Joe Atlan on keyboard and piano, Mike Pitman on drums, Noora Louhimo from the band Battle Beast as a female vocalist, and the drummer Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe and Methods of Mayhem. The inclusion of talents such as these make for a solid piece of work that shows things made by video games aren’t all terrible. The reason why I chose this band was because I am a huge fan of League of Legends and the band so I wanted to spread the word of something I like and think deserves recognition.
