1. Introduction From an early age I found learning hard and in my early educational years I noticed I would stop paying attention in class when I lost interest. The only class I did enjoy and excel at was I.T (Information Technology), due to it being a practical class where by I followed a set of written instructions and was able to visually see the completed task. I decided to pursue a career in IT after finishing school because I had a keen interest in the field. Due to my learning preference I decided that I wanted to have a career that had a much more hands on approach which led me on to become a Personal Trainer. 2. Learning Style Analysis There has been much research done into learning theories and styles. The two I’m using are Kolb’s Experimental Learning Theory and Honey and
Mumford’s Learning Style. Kolb’s theory (Www2.le.ac.uk, 2014), is influenced on earlier work done by other educational theorist such as John Dewey, Kurt Lewin and Jean Piaget but Kolb was the first to represent his theory as a four stage learning process directly linking individuals learning pattern based upon one of the four stages
(Nwlink.com, 2014). Much of Kolb’s theory is based around the individual’s mental development (McLeod, 2014). According to Kolb’s (Learning Theories and Models Summaries, 2014).theory learning is a process where knowledge is changed into experiences and reflected upon, absorbing the information to make our own theories and testing the information in our daily lives.
