The different learning styles and how they apply to me.
It is strange to me to think of learning as having different styles. In this essay, something that will be discussed is the different types of learning styles and how they apply to me or anyone else for that matter. Learning as we grow seems so fundamental and that there is not much to it. We learn as we go and as we grow. In our learning process, we do not take too much into account that we are developing a style of learning. Some of us had the privilege of having our parents guide us through our learning process and help develop our style, while others developed it on our own. Either way, our style is our own.
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security. I have been in the Army for over 17 years now and have an extensive background in logistics. While it would be easy for me to pursue a degree in logistics, I felt it was time for a change. In this age of the World Wide Web and cyber crime, I figured I’d give it a shot. I have a pretty good knowledge base on computers and the internet, so I thought it would be a rewarding challenge to try and pursue something new. I might even wind up working for a logistics company, monitoring their internet

This is according to a learning style quiz I took (The Center for New Discoveries in Learning (2012). Learning styles inventory. Retrieved from http://www.howtolearn.com/learning-styles-quiz). The quiz was basically made up of a series of questions that asked how you like to do certain things. Much to my surprise, the quiz has me down as 55% Auditory learner. I akways thought of myself as more of a kinesthetic and visual learner. In spite of the quiz I took, I still think I am. Maybe I’ll retake that quiz, over and over, until I get the desired results. Then again, I don’t think I have time for all that, and I’ll just stick with the results of the

People have different learning style and personality type and based on my findings from the multiple pathways to learning assessment, three learning styles were identified. The three leaning styles identified were: musical, naturalistic and bodily/kinesthetic. I learned about my preferred learning style by taking the VARK Learning Style Questionnaire. My style was kinetics and although i have the other skills as well. The other one ones are not as high as the kinetics skill. I like it better to have a more hands on experience. Like when i learned how to mow the lawn. I had to have someone show me how to operate the lawnmower. Showing me helps me to do things because once i can see how it’s done then i can do it as well.…

Learning styles theory originated in the 1970’s and is based around the idea that people have preferences about how they like to learn. Theorists believe that each individual has a particular learning style that is best suited to them and allows them to collect and process information successfully in order to learn. The principle idea is that these learning style differ from one individual to the next and theorists argue that school teachers should incorporate these learning styles into their lessons so that student is catered for and everyone can learn effectively. Many educationalists believe that differences in learning styles are responsible for some student difficulties, for example, if a student is taught…

    | My preferred general learning style is auditory, which means I do best by hearing. However, I am considered a multi-sensory learner. There are times where I learn best by doing, and then there are other circumstances where I learn best by observation. Before taking the Learning style Quiz I would have told you that I was a visual learner. I am better with written instructions more than I am with verbal. I love when I receive handouts and diagrams. After taking this quiz I have learned that I am more of a kinesthetic learner. I always have to be hands on and doing something. What I mean by this is when I am studying I am either moving in my chair or I am using my finger as a reading guide. I always thought that it was just my ADHD that made me do this but now I have learned that it is a way of learning.…

Teaching and learning is the basis for any type of education process. Understanding the various teaching and learning styles of the student and teacher can greatly improve this education process. Many students share different learning methods and tactics, while most teachers are unique in their teaching methods. For example, a student may enjoy and learn better from a PowerPoint presentation of ‘The theory of evolution’ rather than a detailed 1000 plus page encyclopedic report on it. This disparity arises due to the different comprehension strengths and preferences of the student. Therefore, it is essential that one understands the learning strengths and preferences of the student.…
