absence for month. “Rude lady”.
She forgot to ask about going back to work but was going to wait after her scheduled follow-up appointment at the OT office.
Doc. Appointment was at 10:30am, and she received a call from before the appointment from HR of Federal Mogul saying that she needed to report to work that night or she would be fired. She asked if she could wait until after appointment. The response was “No.” Kassie asked if she could at least get some sleep as she had not slept in over 24 hours – “no.” She reported for work that night on no …show more content…
sleep.
HR would then cancel short-term disability.
Doctor would not respond to Kassie after multiple phone calls. Doctor’s assistant called her back and sadi they had no idea as to why Federal Mogul would want her back to work. Doctor never wrote a note or returned phone calls personally to Kassie. She later found out that her doctor had been in communication with HR without her knowledge. On 08/24/17, she went to Union representative, Tony Good, to HR to request get a copies of all the medical excuses they should have received. There, she found one that was sent by her doctor, stating that Kassie “could not lift more than 10 pounds at work.” Kassie then emailed her supervisor after being called back to work that
day.
Kassie did not file for workers comp, as this was not a work related injury.
Injury happened in Chicago when she was pushed and fell over on the street. Mom come to get her and drop her in the town she lives. Would have been working OT for that night, and would receive a medical notice for employer from the hospital she was at.
Kassie has a doctors appointment tomorrow to see another OT Surgeon and if they can do surgery, will have to “do something about that.” Went over 5 weeks without receiving a check.
Resolution: Filed complaint through Iowa Civil Rights Commission online. She was contacted by an ICRC representative and was told that Doctor would be told “not to do it again” and be charged a “small fine.” Kassie wasnts doctor and HR to pay medical expenses. She wants to keep her current job as long as she gets weekdays and nights back. Only get $275 a week for disability. Made much more when she was working. Struggling to pay bills. Feels violated for them to talk about her without her knowing. Doctor should have never gave out information.
