Materials | Class Profile | Own gap-fill exerciseOwn rearranging words exerciseOwn free time activities written on paperOHP and own transparencies | The class consists of around 15 students mainly from South Asia, the majority of which work for the same company in a variety of jobs under housekeeping and maintenance. All Ss except one are male and all are adults in the approximate age range 20 – 45 years old. They have none or very little formal English training and the general level of English is elementary. Some are stronger than others and will always call out in class, while a few won’t actively participate in individual activities unless pushed. Most of them know each other already from the work environment. |
PREVIOUS LEARNING/KNOWEDGE * That Ss have clarified meaning, form and pronunciation of lexis for some free time activities, specifically those mentioned in Ex 1, 2 & 3 on P 38 of “New Cutting Edge Elementary, Students’ Book” by Sarah Cunningham and Peter Moor * That Ss have clarified meaning, form and pronunciation of some adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, never) from the same source above * That Ss have had a small amount of spoken practice of TL * That Ss have elementary reading and writing skills
