Jay was an impressive character in the story for a couple reasons. For example, “And as he stood there, he took a careful look and saw his own folder. In one case, “Jay said, ‘they think there’s only one of us. So only one of us has to go to school, and I’ve got it all planned out- it’s gonna be great! We have to do this, Ray, we have to! Don’t you see?’ Ray snorted. ‘All I see is some kid who’s completely insane. I mean sure, it might be fun and everything, but you knew we’d get caught.’ ” (page 34) This shows that, Jay and Ray were aware of the consequences that will occur. Ray was worried at first, but he eventually agreed. Also, “Mr. Grayson looked at the principal straight in the eye and said ‘What I’m saying is, that I am hoping that you will leave the disciplinary consequences for our boys up to their mother and me. They lied and they skipped school- both bad things, and they will be punished. At home. I can guarantee that.” This means that, Ray and Jay will get the punishment they deserved at their house. Their dad does not want them to have to get in more trouble than they are already in. In the end, the characters learned from the theme and will not make the same mistake
