Love is duty
Love is unpredictable and can never be studied completely. St. Augustine said “Better to have loved and lost, then to have never loved at all.” No matter how long I live on this wonderful planet I will never forget her, she was the first girl I had ever connected with on an emotional and spiritual level. I first caught a glimpse of her at a conference in Austin, Texas, at the Grand Marriott hotel we became very close over a period of time, and then we inevitably drifted apart.
It was a gloomy Saturday morning and my day was already planned out I got dressed, ate breakfast, had conversation with friends and then made my way to the lobby for registration. I arrived in Austin, Texas a little after midnight making me exhausted after the road trip. After I reached the hotel that night my time was limited. I couldn’t explore or admire anything; my main focus was reaching the bedroom and checking out those sweet hotel room beds. Since I was up and ready I began to observe the hotel. It was a five star Marriott hotel that had a total of 30 floors; each containing a 24 hour customer service. It was summer so the lobby was beach themed palm trees at every door, Hawaiian music was playing even the employees attire consisted of short and flowered button down shirts. After reaching satisfaction from taking a look at the lobby I went to go register. As I walked and greeted people I saw familiar faces from people I had seen back home that made me feel even more secure. I entered the conference center with my lanyard hanging down my neck with “Jabril Muhammad” in big letters. I sat down in the farthest seat from the front and waited for the conference to begin.
After 30 minutes of lectures from different speakers, I began to slowly go into a deep sleep. Just as I closed my eyelids, the next presenter reached the stage. Her appearance lit up the room like a single flare of fire in an atramentous cave. She
