components into simpler components. Lysosomes within the cells break down components such as proteins. If particles cannot be broken down due to the missing enzyme, the waste will then build up in the cell causing defects and disorders. (Lysosomal Storage Disorders, 2003-2006)
Although most or all of the disorders can progress to a worsen state, the severity of LSD would depend on the amount of gunk it accumulates within the cell over time. Lysosomal storage disorder among children in the United States was estimated that 1 and every 5,000 children are born with this disorder. Unfortunately, many of the children who are born with LSD will die. The people who are affected from this disorder tend to have, mental retardation, cloudy vision, stiff joints, hearing and speech impairment, heart disease, chronic runny nose, depression, and a shortened life span. (National Stem Cell Foundation , 2015) There is no cure to Lysosomal storage disorders, and current there has been nothing found for treatment of this specific disorder. This disorder is unfortunate to those who have been affect by this missing enzyme.
