Her previous employers failed to make an effort to show her that they genuinely care about her as a valuable employee. She felt invisible, never received a compliment and not feedback whatsoever. Her previous employers’ hygiene motivation factors did not motivate Shank on any levels, did not offer her any development support. She felt her ideas were not respected, recognized, or appreciated. Her previous employer failed to empower Shank enforcing the perception that her ideas and decisions were important and had a direct impact on the customers, and the company’s goals achievement.
In order to meet these missing needs successful organizations need to make an effort to show employees that the organization genuinely cares about them. The Owners, CEO, and managers need to understand, encourage and enable their employees’ personal growth towards self-actualization.
