11 November Forgiveness
Martin Luther King once quoted, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Quote is a word based on one’s thought through experience: it is not made up with fabrication to make a parade. Therefore, Martin Luther King wrote this quote that love is the acme to redeem the wrong based on his enlightenment through life experience. Supporting this idea, Matthew 18:21-22 states, “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? We made an appointment to go to the school together in the morning; For the most time, she was late and made us to do the school detention. The first time she made a mistake, forgiving her was easy. However, she still repeated her mistake and did not make any changes, but I still forgave her. Repeated forgiveness, suddenly I realized that this was not a true forgiveness: I was not condoning her with my sincere heart, and was not getting rid of her mistake in my mind. Realizing my faulty forgiveness, I fought with her. In my mind, I thought I forgave her; but in fact, I was not. In my mind, thinking about her, there was a great indignation. Time passed, and I realize that I was not forgiving others to really condone them, but to show off. Looking God’s word, I recognized the problem: I was not praying for God's power. I was relying on my will. Perfect paradigm of forgiveness, God forgives all the sinners and gives us power to forgive. Isaiah 1:18 states “ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” He gave us a big opportunity to become new people and get rid of all the ugly sins in our past. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “ Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Unlike me, God shows perfect forgiveness: not remembering our sins. If we ask for forgiveness to God, our sins and iniquities will remember no more. Real forgiveness does not rest on human by itself, but does rest on God’s
