I graduated from medical school in 2013 and continued to work in a multi-specialty hospital as a medical officer. During that time, I had the opportunity to care for a number of patients, from a different range of social, cultural and economic backgrounds, with diverse ailments. The most satisfying part for me, however, was the meaningful interactions I had with my patients. Behind the numerous chief complaints presented to me were real people, each with a story that shaped who they were and how they had come to that point in their lives. My four years of clinical practice taught me the essential elements necessary to be a great doctor; knowledge, good listening skills, compassion, and love for humanity.
